1888 Devil Anse Meer (Pic Heavy)

The pipe fairy has been good to me lately. Here's a 1888 Devil Anse. It comes in just shy of 4 inches and has an Amber stem. The case is in new condition and the pipe has been only smoked a time or two. I'm super excited. I'm actually going to put my big boy pants on and smoke some Condor in it.






Here it is next to one of my favorite Kaywoodie Small Meers.

That bowl looks almost too pristine to be that old. Same for the case. Fantastic.

Aldecaker, the entire silver collar is engraved, but I'm not seeing a maker, unless the Makers mark is something I don't recognize.

Mayfair, it's tarnished. AND the photos were enhanced to show the detail. I photograph fire scenes, not stuff like this. lol

Sure it's meer? Looks sort of like clay or porcelain? Either way cool pipe.

Shantiques, It's so clean, yes it appears to be something other than itself, a Glorious Meerschaum.

I see a VG and a few hallmarks, but I can't make them out. Not sure what the VG represents? It could be the maker or the initials of the pipe owner. Nice find though. It looks like its in great shape.

Jpm, I used the Hallmarks and the info from the seller. I have another one on the way, it's a 1898 briar w/ Amber stem and it has similar etchings in the silver so I'm hoping to do some detective work.
