Jar it (looks like you already did), and put it away for a while. Revisit it later.I'm not really seeing the hype here. Anyone else a little underwhelmed with this blend?
I'm kinda sad that I bought 2 boxes. It sounded like it would be right up my alley.

Kinda what I was thinking too.Jar it (looks like you already did), and put it away for a while. Revisit it later.
Are you just trying it for the first time? This one slowly became an all time favorite of mine but it took some time for it to work it’s magic, it’s truly an olde worlde tobacco... or it’s just not a blend for you and that’s okay too.I'm not really seeing the hype here. 1792 may take awhile to charm you but I honestly don’t think age does much to this one. It certainly doesn’t hurt it but I find the way 1792 Flake is processed makes it good right off of the shelf. But again, it took me about 6 years to fully come around to it. Sometimes I think timing has a lot to do with it. I started developing a taste for more traditional English style blends in 2016 yet I started smoking a pipe in 2009. I think you have a good plan, hold on to it and keep trying it from time to time.I figured I might come around on it later.
It's not terrible just a little underwhelming and there are others I enjoy a lot more.
I'll keep this one, age it and probably unload my other box on someone who'll appreciate it.
I do also have a box of SG FVF that I didn't care much for initially and I like it now with some age on it. So there's still hope.
I haven't revisited my SG Brown #4 in a while either. I didn't care much for that one when I got it. I'm hoping with some age on these they will be wonderful one day. I was really excited about the 1794.

My next question is how dry was it?It's good stuff. Best when it's bone dry and with some whisky on the side.

New Gawith no bueno. Let it ride, bro
That is not my impression at all.Interesting. I like 1792 and have tins in the cellar but have not purchased any in a year or two. Have there been many concerns over current production being different than past ones?
I'm not speaking of one-offs...I've seen the rare batch differences....but is there a general noticeable concerning trend? IF QC is declining or if recipe's are being toyed with...that would be unfortunate as I view SG as one of the very few remaining privately held/boutique blending houses.
Thanks for any comments & thoughts.
Sorry I wasn’t clear. I just meant it needs a little more age to it IMo then try again.Interesting. I like 1792 and have tins in the cellar but have not purchased any in a year or two. Have there been many concerns over current production being different than past ones?
