I mixed 10 grams of rubbed out 1792 flake with 1 gram of ribbon perique and rubbed the mix out some more. I’m not very good with descriptions but this was interesting and I like it. I didn’t get the pepper/spice I usually get from perique. It was smoothed out, maybe from the tonquin. It didn’t have that stewed fruit flavor profile either. I enjoyed it but it was a powerhouse. My scale shows 1/10 of grams so maybe I’ll try less perique even though I’m a perique lover. I thought I would share this for those who might enjoy 1792 and/or perique or enjoy playing around with mixing.

Perique gives up its flavor better if you will allow it to meld with a blend for a month or so. Otherwise it merely adds an acidic monochromatic taste. Better, if you'll mix this up and let it set for almost a year. It will make the entire blend taste different. It will probably be a little over the top strong also.
