@ Mick again: So I went back to the Rhinebeck Smoke Shoppe where I originally bought 1 Q and they didn't have any again. They also only had 2 tins of Peteerson Old Dublin, 1 tin of Sweet Killarney, 2 tins of Cherry Bomb (?) by CAO and 2 tins of Presbyterian Mixture plus what she called "The German Tobaccos," some various and sundry aros such as Pina Colada and so on, and the typical OTCs. Maybe they are done with Lanes? I'm not sure. Also not sure by what she meant by 'German tobaccos' and I didn't ask. Picked up a tin of the Presbyterian (for $17) because I couldn't, in good conscience, go to a B&M and not buy something. I'm going to call ahead the next time to make sure I'm not stuck buying something I don't like or at least having researched a little more based solely on principle. I figured Presbyterian was at least a safe bet because Tobacco Reviews has it in it's Hall of Fame but She Who Must isn't fond of Latakia or Orientals in general and I prefer burley, virginia or Va/Per anyway. That said, it wasn't bad but I'm not sure it was $17 / 50g good but I've only had one bowl so far.
All in all, somewhat disappointing but tobacco shopping is like fishing, a bad day at the tobacco shop sure beats a good day at work.

Reichenbach: Interesting that they might have stopped carrying Lane stuff. Now, I do have to say there are more and more tobacco B&M's here in Texas that are getting out of the pipe business. According to Mike from Stafford & Jones, which got mentioned in another thread a couple of days ago, this is due to the taxation regulations which taxes pipe tobacco at the levels of cigarette tobacco. Cigars have a way lower tax rate and are more popular, hence more bread and butter for the B&M.
As Mike said "I just can't compete with the on-line shops anymore in the whole pipe business". It's a shame... :-(
