There was a change here in the UK recently. Women used to get cheaper car insurance (which all drivers must have here) because they have less accidents. Someone challenged this under the anti-sex discrimination law and won. Insurance companies are no longer allowed to discount on the basis of gender. Sadly the result was that they simply raised premiums for woman to the male rate!just like women are cheaper than men because they live longer heather lives than men in general.
I've read this in several places, but with the following disclaimer; The types of cancer that Pipe smokers tend to suffer from are more readily treated with surgery than those suffered by cigarette smokers. This effects the figures as the pipe smoker tends to survive the cancer more often. So, living longer says nothing about health or the quality of that life after surgery!Actually pipe smokers have a longer life expectancy
Could you ask your insurance broker if you would have to inform them of any changes and give as examples, starting smoking a pipe, or taking up sky diving as a hobby or changing job? You would then know where you stood with your policy without flagging up that you have been a smoker.Well, I didn't get any quotes on how much difference there is per month.
