Not to harsh your mellow, but for me, and possibly other's here, Christmas 2024's Secret Santa is the best it's ever been.
My family never celebrated Christmas (we're Jewish...) and I never really celebrated the holiday until I married my wife (who was raised Lutheran, and is now Jew-ish). I got to see the whole family rewind, replaying the Xmas's of decades past. Not fun for me.
For many people, the holidays are more than not fun, they're lousy. My aunt was a foster parent and emergency intake caregiver for children. Christmas was always a full house there, as the stress of the season brought violence home for their holidays. Families melted down and got split up. Christmas at my aunt's house was always a raucous, wild affair, the most fantastic time those poor kids ever had in their whole entire life. Because their parent(s) were in jail.
So, I'm no fan of nostalgia. I've been there, and the present is where I'd much rather be.
