“Strange Terms”

Several weeks ago I was admiring a “made in Erie” Peterson on the forum. @ashdigger made a subtle comment about having an extra he was willing to let go under certain terms. Out of curiosity I messaged ashdigger to find out what the terms were. After agreeing to his terms, I received a package in the mail. I did not receive a pipe, I received FIVE pipes. All the pipes are vintage Pete’s with several gems including one of the coolest pipes I’ve ever held.

I’m usually not a sentimental person but this gift given out of sheer goodness, although with terms attached to the pipes, was truly moving for me. The pipes are far and beyond anything I expected. The whole experience has subtly yet profoundly changed my day to day view of this crazy world we live in.

Although I’m on the forum frequently I don’t post very often. However, the whole experience is a shining example of the kindness of the members of the forum and needed to be shared. Hats off to ashdigger.

Now for the pipes (please excuse my photography skills).

I was informed by ashdigger that the pipe was likely custom order. Unbelievable.

I have never owned a "Pete", but that Shamrock carved is spectacular! No idea the "terms" but good on you, and good on @ashdigger, I am sure you will be an excellent custodian of that briar : )

Just to clarify the “strange terms” as, ashdigger called them at one point, is this: pay it forward. That’s it. Simple. But the longer I thought about that the more meaningful it became. I wasn’t expecting a life altering pipe lol.

I’d wager half of the population of pipe smokers down here in NZ have also succumbed to his strange terms. He is truly a good mofo.

Word on the street is that some of his sloppy seconds are dropping on the bay this weekend, definitely some white whales for Pete freaks and Britwood fanboys amongst the lot.

I’m gonna pay it forward by paying the bastard back and bidding on some of them

Strange terms?
Sounds like the standard @ashdigger terms. He is a very generous guy. I have benefited from his generosity and I have tried to pay it forward.
