    Looking for recommendations

I just found out that my brother is travelling through Denmark tomorrow for work and was wondering how expensive pipe tobacco is there and what others would recommend that I ask him to pickup. Since he is travelling back into Canada, I believe the limit is 8oz. Is pipe tobacco easily purchased...

    Second Hand Lorenzetti

Irish, thanks for the welcome! I had never heard of the brand until I found this one for sale. A quick google search turned up a few favorable opinions so I thought I would take a chance. It is the only new [unsmoked] pipe I have ever owned. So now I get to learn how to break it in!

    Second Hand Lorenzetti

Picked up an unsmoked second hand Lorenzetti today. Seemed like a good buy. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand. I believe it is from their Julius Caesar line. As well, it looks perfectly clean but I was wondering if any cleaning is recommended with a second hand pipe...

    Offering a Guest a Pipe

hfearly +1 The scene of sitting around a campfire is actually how I got started on the hobby. A friend who had started smoking pipes a few months before offered his original starter pipe to me.... And yes, he did get the evil eye from my wife! He packed it for me and I did a pretty good job of...

A Question for Parents of Little Kids...

cigrmaster - Couldn't agree more. I think this is one of those common sense things that a lot of todays parents [and kids] don't get. They would rather whine about their "situation" than take responsibility for it. Brewshooter - Another excellent point. I am back to brewing beer kits on a...

    Bit Guards?

mikephillips you definitly have a point, they make the stem a bit too thick. But they do save the stem from probable destruction by us clenchers. Anybody know of a brand of these that is not as thick as the regular cheap ones?

The Best Way to Pack a Bowl.

thesmokingbrony, I'm not an experienced pipe smoker so I bookmarked a few youtube videos into a playlist so I could easily refer back to them. Funny enough, most of them are by pipesmagazine... It's much easier to see these methods than just read about them. I tend to stick with the 2 step...

How Much Tobacco can You Cross the Border With?

rothnh: yup, that's the place. Dad's is a nice small shop. I'm mostly an aro smoker and he has a good selection of bulk tobacco. Dan always asks us if we would like to sit and have a smoke before we go but it's a long drive and we are usually in a hurry. brdavidson: Glad to hear you had a good...

I'm a Very New Pipe Smoker

eibhir, Being a closet smoker myself (young kids and my wife disapproves of my "hobby") I occasionally only have time for a quick smoke. If I find myself having to head back inside at a party when all the smokers are done their cigs I place the pipe in my fist with my palm covering the bowl...

How Much Tobacco can You Cross the Border With?

brdavidson, A friend and I have been heading to the US 2 or 3 times a year for a while now. Last time coming back we each had 7oz of pipe tobacco as we were in for over 48 hours and had no problems with our crossing, other than being searched (probably because we were down to New Hampshire and...
