***What Are You Smoking, December 2025?***

Yesterday morning it was G. L. Pease Charing Cross in a Savinelli Punto Oro Gold 315 KS Prince with Black Tea. We had a nice snow in the afternoon with a bit more added in the wee hours. This morning it is Captain Earle's Stimulus Package in a Briarworks C111 Bullmoose. The C111s are...

I like your choices. I have a good number of Palmetto Balkan 8oz tins in the cellar and it is an excellent blend. I do thoroughly enjoy D&S Casbah as well, and similarly Loch Ness when I'm feeling a wee bit Scottish. I find I prefer Perique in condimental amounts (Loch Ness and Quiet Nights...

***What Are You Smoking, November 2025?***

Off to a crisp start here today. Sitting down to enjoy the birds out back with a bowl of Captain Earle's Stimulus Package in a Savinelli 616 KS Punto Oro Classic. Nice to be home for the holiday break. Hope you are doing well.

Enjoying a bowl of Star Of The East Flake in a newly acquired Savinelli 616 KS Foresta. Nice grain on this one and it weighs in at 2.8oz. I like the heft in hand of the 616 KS.

Tonight's smoke is Sansepolcro 2025 in a Savinelli Siena 315 KS Prince. That pipe is reserved for Virginias. The Sansepolcro has been in the jar for a couple of months now and I get the soft clove note that is spoken of with this blend. Really pleasant. I have a few tins in the cellar...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2025?***

Broke out a couple of old favorites this evening. I'm freight training Pirate Kake with three years on it in a Briarworks C111 Bullmoose/Rhodesian with a tortoise shell stem. The Kake is as smooth as a gravy sandwich in the little Rhodesian. Soft and smokey with hints of sweetness from the...

Love that Dunhill (and strong billiards like that, in general). A very nice find and looks to be in great shape. Been looking for a birthyear Dunhill myself.

Being the weekend, it's a two bowl Saturday. Earlier, after chores, I enjoyed some sun and a bowl of Ellipsis Flake in a Savinelli Siena Prince 315 KS. Now that it's after dinner, it's back out to the stoop for bowl of three year old G.L. Pease Odyssey in a Savinelli Punto Oro rusticated 616...

A quiet Fall evening here, and getting crisp. I'm sitting out on the stoop, watching my wayward birds. I have a particularly bold Chickadee coming to visit. Tonight's smoke is Robert Lewis' Tree Mixture in a Savinelli Punto Oro rusticated 616 KS. I hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Good evening, friends: Another nice Fall day here. Had a big thunderstorm blow through last night. The other night, around 9pm, I was brought off the couch by a crash outside the kitchen door. To my surprise (and some mild annoyance) was a bear busy destroying my bird feeder. The damage...

Hello friends: This evening, I am enjoying a bowl of G.L. Pease Westminster in a recent acquisition, a Savinelli 616 KS in the Whisky finish. I am a big fan of the bent billiard 616 KS shape (I seem to have accumulated eight of them) as it has a nice heft in the hand and a stout bowl. Tonight...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2025?***

Greetings all: I am enjoying a bowl of C&Ds Star of the East Flake on the stoop in a Savinelli Punto Oro Classic 616 KS. Fine Fall weather here with plenty of color on the trees, grey skies overhead, a cool breeze, and even some rain in the forecast. My wayward birds are busy at the feeder...

Jeremy Reeves of Cornell & Diehl on Radio Show of October 7, 2025

Jeremy is a real gentleman. When I first started my pipe smoking journey (as the Youtubers are wont to say), I called him and he took plenty of time to patiently answer my questions, offer tips and suggestions on blends to try, and even recommended a fine gin. The man appreciates the finer things.

He who controls the Spice, controls the Universe

Yes, definitely. For me, I relate spice to the complex profile of Orientals and Latakia; the earthy, floral, herbal, allspice, clove, cedar, and frankincense qualities. Most notable on a good retrohale with some Englishes.

It's an enjoyable blend and one I am cellaring. I love the flake presentation, rich, deep color, and of course the mesquite. I prepare it by cutting up the flake into small pieces, almost cube-cut, if you will, then thoroughly rub that out. This leaves a nice crumble which I let dry for a...
