    Is This Tongue Bite?

I filter does help alot actually. I just personally hate the way it changes the draw. Makes it feel like I'm running and breathing through a straw.

Didn't Worry About Packing and Guess What?

As soon as I stopped asking for advice and listening to all the advice and just smoked and packed how I felt I enjoyed it then guess what? I enjoyed it! Of course no disrespect to those who have more experience.

    What is a "Pipe Club"

Believe me, most times this is plenty enough socializing for me. 🤣

    What is a "Pipe Club"

It seems more casual than I thought. Which is fine. But whenever I hear of another club it always sounds so official. A name, events, giveaways, merch? Maybe it's just whatever the groups wants.

    What is a "Pipe Club"

This may be an odd question, but what better place to ask it. I'm trying to start a pipe club in my local area and I am curious as to what constitutes an official pipe club vs just a meet up. I'm not sure how to bring it from a casual meet up to an actually club. I kind of have an idea in my...

    Don't Overlook Drying Time

Sou Sounds like you found a way to make your smoking experience more enjoyable. In that case it doesn't matter what any of us think of it. But I agree with you. I find the same thing works for me.

5 Months In, I Still Have No Idea How to Pack a Pipe

I think this is where the skill and learning everyone speaks of comes in

5 Months In, I Still Have No Idea How to Pack a Pipe

I find it interesting that no one seems to have suggested packing tighter. I've had some of my most hot bland smokes from packing to light. It goes up like dry grass and tastes the same. Not that this will solve all problems but you could try since it seems as though you have obliged everyone...

    An Unexpected Encounter

I love that story. Maybe I just have bad luck but it seems like quite a few other experienced pipe smokers I've observed are not as pleasant and helpful as you were in this situation. Keep up the good work!

    How to Unscrew a Mouthpiece

I always find it works better to go clockwise. It actually makes sense in my head that the drill bit would have smoothed the fibers of the wood in that direction and hence the stem would turn smoothly "with the grain". This I my over over analytical contribution. I use beeswax to lube the tenon.

    Need a Couple of Noob Recommendations . . . .

If you're checking out 4noggins there Tewksbury (Hobbits weed match) is a really good bulk cherry/ chocolate.

    Is This Tongue Bite?

I've been smoking about 3-4 bowls a week of various blends for 2-3 years now. I'm pretty sure my tongue should have "toughened up" by now. 🤣 The tobaccos in question have been jarred since last fall, maybe 8 months? I'm thinking it's probably an allergy, or just poor smoking skills😁

    Is This Tongue Bite?

Thanks for all the great input. I guess I thought tongue bite would be more like something reaching out and chomping on my tongue based on the name and all.🤣 not this annoying burning irritated feeling.

    Is This Tongue Bite?

I know! I love the flavour. But even now a day later I can still feel the irritation in my mouth after smoking it.

    Is This Tongue Bite?

Thanks I appreciate the suggestions! Did you end up getting used to the Virginia's?

    Is This Tongue Bite?

I am not well versed in the different varieties of tobaccos. What would be considered a bright Virginia vs a dark Virginia? Or a red Virginia?

    Is This Tongue Bite?

I've been dabbling with these tobaccos for a bit to see if they are the cause of my discomfort but today the burn was quite obvious. Upon this conclusion I will take your advice and put them away. Smoking is for enjoyment not using up tobacco.

    Is This Tongue Bite?

That's an interesting point. So I should maybe try a Virginia/ burley. Any recommendations?

    Is This Tongue Bite?

I have two Virginia blends, Union Square and 4th Gen luxury twist flake. My issue is that, with these two blends, I get a burning sensation as soon as the tobacco is lit. It is not hot at all, but the feeling in my mouth is somewhat like hot sauce. And the burning lasts for a while after. The...

    Breaking In

I've found that a brand new pipe doesn't smoke as good as the same pipe that has been smoked a bunch already. I don't know why exactly but that's my experience. My pipes usually just get better the more I smoke them.
