    Sweetest English Blend?

Turbo, have you ever had their "Angry Cornishman?" It is also very good. A bit more Latakia. As to the OP's question, a good, sweet Balkan is C & D Palmetto Balkan, if you haven't already tried it.

    Pipe Smoking In Bed

I might have about a 1% chance of "sweet-talkin'" my wife out of being furious if I took a big, smelly dump in the middle of the bed. But firing up my pipe in bed??? Not a chance in hell.......

    Comparing Virginia Flakes

You're right that it should be on any list of good Virginia's. In fact, your post flung a cravin' on me and I chose some FVF for my "after chores smoke."

    Comparing Virginia Flakes

At the risk of sounding like a broken record......... I do want to mention that you CAN buy Faulker Flake from Country Squire, in bulk quantities. Just sayin'..... :col:

    Comparing Virginia Flakes

I will be looking forward to your thoughts on the GLP Union Square when you get to it. Also, if I may suggest one, have you tried Faulkner Flake by The Country Squire? It's a straight VA and I think you might like it.

So Was In My Shop Messing Around With Some Maple

I believe he is. And, I want to apologize for not realizing that earlier when I asked him to post some pictures of his work...... He already had and I did not realize to whom I was speaking. This was the first mistake that I have made since 1995. Will try to do better............

So Was In My Shop Messing Around With Some Maple

Thanks for the comments. I honestly have not smoked the pipe more than probably a dozen times. It's more for display among the tons of other crap that I collect. That said, I have never had any hint of an odor from the antler. Would love to see some of your work if you'd see clear to...

    What’s Happening To Me?

Great story, Sig. I had a similar experience years ago when I commented on a particular saddle maker's product and price. A fella asked me off line if I'd ever ridden one of his saddles. I said no and he replied, "I didn't think so." He schooled me privately and was a bit more subtle than...

    What’s Happening To Me?

Kinda gives the phrase, "Holy Smokes" a whole new meaning................. I know it's corny, but someone had to say it.

    What’s Happening To Me?

I have not had those two shapes from Dunhill pointed out before, Larry, but you are correct. I just pulled up comparisons and the #20 has much more character and flow to it than does the 22. I'm starting to think that this entire thread was created for the sole reason of placing temptation...

    What’s Happening To Me?

Completely agree with you on the traditional look. I only have a couple but they are some of my favorites. I'd add a third if I could get one like Embers showed us.

    What’s Happening To Me?

Embers, at the risk of giving you a swelled head (or some other part of the anatomy) that is a super cool pipe. I'd love to have one like that.

If Ozzy ever does take up the pipe..... this will be what he selects.

    MARXMAN Pipes, Anyone?

That was an interesting read. He sure must have been in some kinda shape. Said he was 76 when he won the award. I can really see the influence that "Ted" brought to MM once he bought them. The pipes shown on that Pipedia article look very much like mine.

So Was In My Shop Messing Around With Some Maple

I really like it. Love the rustic look. I had a fella make one for me years ago to commemorate a Civil War cavalry unit. He used cherry branch for the stem and had a piece of antler as well. Yours reminds me of it in many ways. Good work.

    MARXMAN Pipes, Anyone?

Do you know if there is a year of manufacture range for the Mastercraft era??

    MARXMAN Pipes, Anyone?

Meanwhile....... back at Marxman pipes................... I also have this MM in a basic billiard shape. It does not have the "oxblood" coloring as has been discussed, but I bought it because I love the "starburst" pattern of the grain on one side. It smokes very nicely, too.

Man, that is a helluva story, for sure. One of the great coverups of all time.
