Dad Died Last Weekend And I Inherited His Pipes etc.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. My Mom died in 2006 and Dad followed in 2010. Both were chain smokers, which actually drove my sisters and I away from it. I have several items that belonged to my parents. Mostly my Dad's tools, which I use often. And every time I complete a...

What Kind Of Pipe Smoker Are You?

Good evening all, Years smoking, a pipe- 2 years Do you combine your pipe smoking with other forms of tobacco consumption? Cigars, snuff, etc. if so, which form of consumption do you lean to - I prefer to stick to pipes now, although I started with cigars. Recently, I have found cigars made...

    Are Windcaps Over?

Oh yeah. My Wife and I bought a log cabin in the Colorado Mountains! Most of the house looks like that!

    Box Pass Extravaganza 2024 Signup

Well, that is too bad. I love the idea of starting one with an AirTag in it. But not something I would be up to starting on my own. I hope @RustiePyles CPG is OK! I don't like it when someone tries to get something good started and then gets critisized and second guessed about it If it...

    Are Windcaps Over?

My wife has recently opened to the idea of smoking in the house, particularly in the theater, work shop, and my office, which are all in the basement. She also may be open to the living room, "if doesn't get stuffy or musty". I don't smoke all the time, 2-3 times a week, so I don't think that...

    Pipe Tobacco Cigars?

So the Tooth & Bear (my local shop) is selling a few cigars rolled using pipe tobacco instead of standard cigar tobacco. I have not tried them yet, but one of the reasons I switched from cigars to pipes (just one reason, there are many) is that I found cigars to be more acrid and less...

    In Support of B&M's

I have to agree. If you want to run a B&M, for ANYTHING, and you need to command higher prices to cover additional overhead, taxes, payroll, etc., the reality is you have to offer something more than a cash register. I mentioned in another post about a new Cigar and Pipe lounge in Woodland...

    Are Windcaps Over?

Boy I hope these aren't a thing of the past. I am still new to smoking a pipe, and although I don't get in as much practice as I would like, it is frustrating to smoke in the wind here in CO. I actually find myself going between having trouble keeping it lit, and the pipe getting WAY to hot...

    Box Pass Extravaganza 2024 Signup

So what is the Status of the Box Pass in 2024 and 2025? Did this FANTASTIC idea die out? Now that I am settled in Colorado, I was looking forward to joining in 2025! I found a great Pipe & Tobacco lounge here in Woodland Park, CO called the Tooth & Bear. A members only joint. They are only a...

    How Cold Is Too Cold?

Well, for Christmas, my wife thought she was getting me gear to where while shovelling snow! But instead, she got me gear to wear so I can smoke outside! Our new place in Colorado does get cold, down into the teens at night and high 30s during the day sometimes, and we haven't even hit the...

    How Cold Is Too Cold?

Well, I just moved to Colorado, about 90 min west of Colorado Springs, up in the mountains west of Pike's Peak. We have not gone sub-zero yet, but we have gotten in the teens. I have been too busy unpacking to do much smoking, but I finally broke out the box of Pipe Stuff and was able to sit and...

    Smoking in the Wild...

Well, I have been VERY busy in 2024 and have had very little time to smoke, much less post! My wife and I finally sold our So Cal home in June and moved to Colorado! We bought what I hope will be our last house in Cripple Creek, CO, about 1.5 hours west of Colorado Springs. We are still...

    Your First Pipe

Well, embarrassed to say... my first was this ebony wood Whitluck Tobacco Pipe I found on Amazon for $23, including the pipe, a Czech tool, a stand, and some pipe cleaners. The only thing I still use is the stand and the Czech tool. Pretty pipe, but heavy and not very fun to smoke.

    Smoking in the Wild...

This morning I am in beautiful Joshua Tree, California; just outside of Palm Springs. My wife and I came out to the solitude of the desert to let her heal up from surgery (She is doing great!) and get away from the stress of the Open House our realtor is conducting this weekend! With any luck...

    An Ode To Pipepiphany...

Fantastic prose! I love the writing style, and only wish I was in the mind space to attempt to match it. I have my mind buried in too many scientific reports these days to think/write creatively or communicate the joy I get from a nice bowl. But I think I need to recommit to that.

How/What Beverages do You Pair with Your Pipe?

I find that a good coffee is a great pairing in the early morning or when it is cold out... but I can also go for a good bourbon and ginger beer. On a hot afternoon, a frosty Arnold Palmer is a nice pairing too.
