Sorry, didn't see this until now. Thanks so much. If he needs an email address, feel free to message me.

Tom Colwell of Who Made That Pipe? - where is he now?

I'm afraid I'm having no luck with fastpeoplesearch. It appears to be blocked in my location (Europe), and instead offers a different website that one has to subscribe to in order to use. Quite disappointing, but thank you for the tip either way. I will post messages on the other forums to see...

OK I will have a look, thank you. I did not known such things still existed.

Tom Colwell of Who Made That Pipe? - where is he now?

That's lovely to hear. And while I won't post any of the documents for the moment, I can confirm that he did indeed enjoy virginia flakes from the UK, which he procured by mail correspondence with some of our famous tobacconists.

That's very interesting. It doesn't seem like pondercreekstudio is still active on ebay. Do you happen to know any other way to contact him?

Tom Colwell of Who Made That Pipe? - where is he now?

Hello everyone, As some of you may know, in the days before Pipedia (and the mass adoption of the internet), there was a compendium of pipe information created by Tom Colwell and Herb Wilzcak, called Who Made That Pipe? It's very interesting, and a real achievement given how difficult it still...

    Kai Nielsen Pipes

Actually, now that I think about it more, his status within the Danish scene makes his prices comparatively quite reasonable.

    Kai Nielsen Pipes

Kai Nielsen pipes are really well made, but part of the high price for them is that Kai is a very well established pipe maker, and comes from a family of similarly well established pipe makers. He's the son of Viggo Nielsen, who owned the Bari factory, and made great quality Danish pipes back...

Show us (me) your stranger Stanwells

Yes, the history of Danish pipemakers and institutions is a very tangled Web. And I also love the Danish Pipe Shop. The Nielsens are so lovely and helpful.

Show us (me) your stranger Stanwells

Lov Lovely! If information serves correctly, this was made in the 1960s by Poul Hansen, who was originally one of Sixten Ivarsson's pupils, before becoming an accomplished carver in his own right. He would later own The Danish Pipe Shop in Copenhagen, before selling the store to the Nielsen...

Preferably with the shape numbers or line nomenclature. It will help me further complete the pipedia list of Stanwell shapes and shape numbers.

I have the spring, but I am afraid I cannot part with it. One of my most beautiful pipes.

Just Won a Stanwell: Any Good?

Looks lovely. What is that, a shape 227? Cigarbids blocks us Euros lol. It looks like one of Tom Eltang's bent Dublin designs for Stanwell. Great pipe.

    In-house Stanwell experts?

Thank you. I have just added a line-specific shape variations section for this exact reason, and hope to continue to add to it when I have time (I am mainly using this project as a distraction from writing my PhD dissertation, haha).

    In-house Stanwell experts?

Hello there I am currently in the process of updating the pipedia.org list of Stanwell shape numbers throughout its history. The original list was compiled by Basil Stevens, who knew more than anyone outside of Stanwell employees themselves about the brand, but sadly he passed away a few years...

    Fake St. Bruno is About!

We have better wildlife conservation efforts now which helps keep the monkeys both healthy and away from the city itself. Not sure what the problem is supposed to be with the Moroccans tho

Yeah maybe it has changed somewhat in 20 years.

    Fake St. Bruno is About!

As someone who has lived for years in, and currently lives in, Gibraltar, this is absolutely not true. Gibraltar shops sell cheap tobacco because it is not taxed. We do not have "back street sellers" of anything. This is not some third-world country. Frankly, Gibraltar is more economically...

    Fake St. Bruno is About!

We could have some proof if Simong showed us the email he claims Mac Baren sent him confirming this.
