Updating the History of Sasieni Pipes and Their Subsidiary Brands

I believe that the football Made In England stamp was used to the end of the Alfred Epoch era (1979). In the post Family eras, the COM was moved to:

Help Dating a Comoy’s Grand Slam

Comoy's silver always has HC on it, so that is aftermarket, so it appears is the stem. Below from a Deluxe: Grand Slam stems are drilled to accept a threaded stinger with leather washers. Those pipes are typically stamped with a number to ID the replacement leather washer. A lot of stinger...

    Your Favorite Pipes?

Hmm, not sure why I never commented in this thread. My favorite is a Sasieni Four Dot Ashford. I bought it un-smoked, probably paid too much. I said I would smoke it on a special occasion and it sat for several years. When my granddaughter was born in 2016, I smoked it out on their patio...

This closed out the recent episode of Landman. Great song, so-so show this season.

    BG (Delacour) Swan Neck Restoration

It's in the blog! (not exactly a secret). It was tricky getting the oxidation around the new logo paint (wet paper wrapped around the edge of a micro-mesh pad.

    BG (Delacour) Swan Neck Restoration

The BG arrived earlier this week and I finished it last night. I found some information in an old thread here on drilling a curved shank pipe, and cited it in my Reborn Pipes blog article. (see link below) I was pleasantly surprised to find it is quite small, under 30 grams. A perfect...

Updating the History of Sasieni Pipes and Their Subsidiary Brands

Bravo, what a resource, thanks for that labor of love! I love the shape chart with catalog appearances. I'm surprised at the number of shapes/towns that never appeared in any catalog. It is going to take a while to digest the entire article.

This is the Thanksgiving holiday weekend here in the US, a lot of folks travel (we're out of town). Normally a Sunday evening would be fine.

Coolest Savinelli Pipe I Have Seen So Far

Where are you seeing $1000 Sav GBD's? They run $250 - $600 on Ebay. Modern ones are 6mm pipes (apparently they'll make a non-filter stem after ordering) and acrylic stems, that's a no-go for me.

Coolest Savinelli Pipe I Have Seen So Far

They do have slim, British like buttons.

Coolest Savinelli Pipe I Have Seen So Far

Autographs are well crafted, but too large for me. I like the Giubileo d'Oro line, great shapes, modest in size, vulcanite no filter stems. I believe those stems ended in the mid-80's.

    5th Pipes Magazine Zoom Meeting

Shoot, I was thinking it was next Sunday. We're out of town with friends, staying at a Bed & Breakfast. I'll have to shoot for the next one.

Classic Dunhill shapes that will accept 6mm filters?

I believe 9 mm filter pipes were introduced in the late 1980's or early 1990's. I don't think they ever made a 6 mm filter pipe.

Just finished this, the movie "The Town" was based on this book. Now on this one, which has been lurking in my Kindle for a few years.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a bottle of Yuneglings at my feet, no wine for me! A Henry Clay Warhawk. Before I picked up the pipe, I primarily smoked Henry Clay cigars. I asked my shop in New Orleans about the brand, the manager said he never heard of them. A few weeks ago, up in PA, I stopped by a great shop in...
