FFF Pipes out of Birmingham and a Sasieni One Dot Specially Selected

The Premier on top in the photo, I am keeping. Smoked it this morning and it is a WINNER. The opposite side is COVERED in beautiful Birdseye (always my favorite) and then it's Cross Grain everywhere. Fittingly enough, I smoked some 20 year old Former Cross Grain in it this morning and it...

Here's one for the Kaywoodie Lore Masters

I don’t think I will smoke it. I’ll probably end up selling it on. I don’t keep the pipes I don’t smoke.

Here's one for the Kaywoodie Lore Masters

Hello Gentlemen! I received this in a lot of old estate pipes this week, that included several pre-1930 pipes. What can you tell me about this one? It's unsmoked, which is pretty cool. I have seen Kaywoodie "All Briar" pipes before, but Orific "O" button on this makes me guess it was made...

FFF Pipes out of Birmingham and a Sasieni One Dot Specially Selected

And here's one more that was interesting to me in the lot, though not British. It's a KBB, I think pre-Kaywoodie, that is stamped "FRENCH BRIAR" and is an all briar. This one is unsmoked.

FFF Pipes out of Birmingham and a Sasieni One Dot Specially Selected

I'll take good pics when I get home. The nomenclature is faded, but there. Bowl and rim are clean and sound. Grain is awesome. a little tooth indent on the end of the bit is all that keeps it from being PRISTINE, if smoked. What really surprises me is the Bermuda part. I haven't seen any...

FFF Pipes out of Birmingham and a Sasieni One Dot Specially Selected

What you see are the ONLY stampings on either pipe. No "Made in England" designation. The only clue to home country, for me, is the Birmingham anchor stamp, but that could just be English silver wrapping a French bowl. Wouldn't be the first time... Both stems sport the orific round bit-hole...

FFF Pipes out of Birmingham and a Sasieni One Dot Specially Selected

Hello Gentlemen Just got in a box of some old estate pipes that included two pipes with Sterling Bands from Birmingham that are a mystery to me Both have FFF stamped on the briar. Both have Birmingham marks on the silver work, along with PREMIER stamped in a diamond shape. One most likely...

Hello all. Si thing on my back porch during the best month St. Louis weather has to offer, and I am loving this bowl of Christmas Cheer 2012. is anything being produced now that is even CLOSE to how tasty and smooth this stoved Virginia is?

And here’s the 3rd. This is a ”Jarrow” model, one of the light-weights listed in the 1926 catalog for sure, and maybe others before, but alas, I am away from my Loewe packet right now to double check. There is no line of pipes listed either (Original, Centurion, etc) so that puts it in this...

The Viking Pipe Club of Saint Louis is back in the upstairs lounge at Brennan's in the Central West end. It is super fancy and almost too cool for the likes of us, but we'll take it. 316 N. Euclid St. Louis, MO, 63108 Monday, July 10th, 2023 from 7-10 p.m. Plan on a 2 drink-minimum. Bring...

I have secured 3 more beloved Loewe pipes. 2 are here and one is on its way back from the refurbisher’s. The first is unmarked with name or series. That and the button lead me to put it somewhere in the 1920’s era. Looking at the 1910 catalog from the Loewe Packet, it is clearly a panel...

The MOLESWORTH is most likely pre-civic as well. You can tell if the mouthpiece is original by whether the button looks hand-made or not. Does the slot have smooth edges and a “rounder” bit than say, a Savinelli? Then it’s Pre-Civic. The Civic era usually has a logo that is more of a square...
