    Esoterica on Smoking Pipes?

The Volkswagen beetle is historically one of the top selling cars. Don't think it's currently on sale. Except maybe on "Car-Bids".

    Help ID Sommer's Club Pipe

Sommer was French. I have a nice rusticated Sommer somewhere in this mess. I would say this pipe looks to be more on the modern side.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Looks like the size and depth of blue from the later Claret and "Five Dot" pipes in the 70s or 80s. And the case isn't pre war either.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Something about the stamping and the size and color of the spot on these made me think they were remakes or something.

    Latakia and the pine tree

This thread got my imagination working, so I wrote a poem about it: Latakia, thy fragrance is to me the perfume of the Syrian pine and Cedrus of the Lebanese, a ghost o'er thy draught sublime; My heart could not long bear apart the wonders of thine Ancient Art; and beckons me now to your...

    1930's Barling Tobacconist's Display Case

If it was Vancouver, it could very well have been EA Morris, the tobacconist whose catalog I mentioned, and who carried the Fortes, Mid to late 30s.

    Lighters for Dummies

I put the lighters in the freezer to lower the chamber pressure, and run the butane can under the hot tap to increase the pressure. It works well, even when the adaptor seal isn't flush. I'd rather switch to matches than have to do it 200 times in one sitting though.

Finally: A Wally Frank Yule Blend Humo-Crock!

In the 70s or 80s I think I used to eat a type of cheddar spread that came in crocks like this, some with swivel top lids. Should be fairly easy to find in thrift shops and antique markets for anyone wanting to keep tobacco.
