Absolutely. All of his cigars are good, even his budget Diesel cigars are amazing. However, he did a latakia cigar a number of years ago that I thought was awful. It sounded like a good idea since I love latakia, but it was not good in a cigar.
I love Latakia and am generally in the camp of you the more latakia the better. That being said they are all variations on a the same theme and can taste very similar. I've found that I enjoy stronger body latakia blends that have more of a mouthfeel like Billy Budd that has cigar leaf and...
With as much grief as they get for being slow, they are the only retailer bold enough to ship to me in Washington. I have to give them a lot of credit.
I like to mix my heavier latakia blends with Black Frigate. I currently am really liking Black Frigate and Artisans Blend. It has all of the flavor of Black Frigate with a little more oomph to it.
I've had this issue with my Hackert. In my case I was packing the bowl too tight. Using less tobacco allowed more airflow and solved the problem. However, I have not had this problem with any other pipe.
The advise I got from the guy at the tobacco shop where I bought my first pipe was I only need a second pipe if I want to smoke while the the other pipe is cooling down. I don't smoke that often and I still did not follow that advise as I have about 15 briars.
I've had one pipe where it was a problem. It was a artisan pipe and it got all in the shank because the pipemaker used too much of the stuff . I cleaned the pipe with Everclear a few times, but it had a sour taste for a few weeks.
I have been on a tear this year buying tobacco and pipes. Last year I bought a couple of tins a month that came out to 1 1/2 pounds for the year and I bought 1 pipe. This year, so far, I've bought 8 pounds of tobacco and 2 Radices. I have to say I feel real good about it. I have enough tobacco...
I went through this when Dunhill MM965 went out of stock. I tried some other blends with a similar profile and found I like them better, Tuggle Hall being a go to for me now. I bought five tins of the new 965 and have yet to pop a tin.
I live in Washington. Fortunately I have a cellar that will last for years. I think I can supplement my existing stock with the occasional trip to BM’s in the vicinity. If worse comes to worse I’ll get an Oregon P.O. Box.
I had this same problem with a rather expensive (for me) handmade pipe. In my case it was caused by packing too tight. I was cramming too much tobacco in the bowl and not getting enough air through the chamber.
We had a local paper that was hanging on by a thread. Circulation was very poor. The pandemic put them out for good. I think people get the information they want from Facebook.
I got going on this topic the other day when i accidentally got home with some lactose free milk. Why even make lactose free milk? The whole point of milk is the lactose. I took a swig and it tasted like sugar water.
