Had my first smoke today - need advice

Again I'd like to thank everyone for their advice, it's pretty amazing how much great advice has been shared in such a short amount of time. I think I'll see if I can get a sampler of some tobaccos next time; perhaps some lane 1Q, prince albert/carter hall, and some kind of unflavoured tobacco.

Had my first smoke today - need advice

Wow! So much great advice in such a short amount of time! This forum truly is fantastic thank you all. I've started going through Muttnchop's YouTube videos and I am finding them very informative. Some of you suggested I get an unflavoured tobacco to start out with, what is a good brand? Others...

Had my first smoke today - need advice

Hello all, (TL;DR at bottom) Today I smoked my first pipe and I have a feeling there is a lot that I did wrong. I went to my local tobacconist and asked him to recommend a pipe tobacco for beginners. He recommended I get the "buttered rum" aromatic. So I went home with my newly purchased tobacco...

    Squat Bulldog for Beginner

mawnansmiff actually recommended their "Aristocrat" line. I went through all of their pipes and found a few, but the links I posted have been messed up :/ They're certainly nice pipes though Out of curiosity what is the benefit of an acrylic stem over a vulcanite stem? I know that vulcanite...

All great advice and information I did a quick search for estate pipes and found these three from the same seller Pipe 1 Pipe 2 Pipe 3 Pipe 3 seem like it would need to be reamed (but this is just going off of the poor picture the seller has posted). The other two seem to be okay (I'm not sure...

Thanks for the info, Cortez. I'd imagine having to buy a new stem on a regular basis would get annoying very fast Thanks for the link David! Some very nice looking pipes and in my price range too :D That site has such a large selection I almost got lost

    Squat Bulldog for Beginner

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't thought about the time it would take to actually get the bowl going. I think I might just have to keep an eye out for a billiard :) I know my local antique store has some estate pipes for sale around the $30-$50 range

    Squat Bulldog for Beginner

Hi everyone, I'm a newcomer to all of this and I'm thinking about my first pipe purchase. I really like the look of squat bulldog pipes. I've seen a few for a reasonable price (links below) and would like to know if the two I have found would be a good purchase for a beginner, or if there are...

Can anyone tell me about this ~100 year old pipe I have?

Sorry, I had no idea If you use Google Chrome you should consider getting adblock and adblock plus, I get no popups at all from the site. Is there any way to post pictures directly on this site? I was going to do that, but I saw no option while making this post :/

Can anyone tell me about this ~100 year old pipe I have?

Hi all, thanks for the replies I looked it over again very thoroughly and could see no stamping, marks, or any other kind of indications anywhere on the pipe. Either the marks that were on it have been worn off, or it never had any markings. Maybe the lid had the makers mark on it? This pipe is...

Can anyone tell me about this ~100 year old pipe I have?

Hello everyone, A while back I inherited a pipe from my grandmother that had belonged to her father. From what I understand the pipe is over 100 years old. I had it slightly repaired, having a new mouth piece and something put on the end of the stem so that it could connect to the bowl (not sure...
