Hi All, I just got this article published in Bluegrass Today. I didn't submit the photo of me smoking, but somehow the editor found it! https://bluegrasstoday.com/paul-vorvick-offering-free-banjo-tab-book/

Flying with an Old Boy lighter

I'm flying Alaska and would like to bring my Old Boy. It says I can bring in a carry-on: "Matches/lighters One book of safety matches or one common lighter" Anyone have experience flying with an Old Boy? I don't it to be flagged/denied at security. It's butane but it doesn't look "common."...

    Corona Old Boy Lighter

Old Boy, chrome finish, user here. Had it for years, love it, and it is part of why I enjoy smoking my pipe. I smoke outside exclusively (except when it rains, i'm in an open garage). When wind is a problem I I figure out a way to make it work.

House of Calabash, Still In Business?

Latest update, I signed up on the portlandpipeclub.org site and was told that the next meeting is 4/23. I was also told that Steve Books is still active in the club, so I'm hoping to see him there. I'll report back on what I find out about his business.

For those familiar with Steve Books' "Grandfather's Own" (House of Calabash)

Just talked to someone at Rich's - they do not carry any of the House of Calabash tobaccos. The search continues. Any recommendations? (Doesn't have to be exactly Grandfather's Own, just magical) V

For those familiar with Steve Books' "Grandfather's Own" (House of Calabash)

Thanks Hawky - I'll check Rich's today and report back - somehow I got it in my head that we wasn't selling through them anymore but that could be (I hope) erroneous. I have not had any luck purchasing direct from House of Calabash online. I've called Steve and his daughter Eva, and emailed...

He parted ways with Rich's some time ago. I'm hoping to make it to the next Portland Pipe Club meeting on 2/16. Steve was very active in that and am hoping to see him there or at least find out if anyone knows what his plans are. Thanks, Paul V

House of Calabash, Still In Business?

Hi All, Thanks for your input. Haven't heard from Steve or Eva since Mid-Dec. Regarding comments about pricing, I GLADLY pay those rates for such an amazing product! Grandfather's Own and Wild Rose are my favorites. Hoping the Books family is okay and will be back in business soon!

House of Calabash, Still In Business?

2/2/17 Bumping this thread - House of Calabash SHOP closed in Oct 16, but Steve was making a go of it online. I haven't been able to get through to him by phone email, or his square-up site. Hope all's well. Anyone received an order from him lately?
