    Dragon-Phoenix Meerschaum Bowls

Has anyone had experience with meerschaum bowls from an eBay seller with the handle dragon-phoenix? I am interested in their meer bowl for the Aristocob, but I am a bit hesitant. They claim to turn their own bowls from block meerschaum, but Turkey does not export block, at least to my knowledge.

Recent Al Pascia Orders to USA?

Has anyone in the US ordered a pipe from Al Pascia in 2025? I haven’t ordered a pipe from them in years. I had a great experience, but I have seen some mixed accounts in others’ posts over the intervening years. They still have great prices, but if customs clearance/FDA nonsense is adding...

What Was Peterson’s Bowl Coating Circa 2020

This morning I took a Peterson System Premier Sandblast 01 for its maiden voyage with WCC’s Ahab’s Comfort. Perhaps what happened was a consequence of my decision to tempt literary fate with my tobacco choice, but I think not. I think it was the bowl coat. What happened was that a lot of...

Watch City Cigar Old North Church

Though the blend is classified as Burley based and WCC describes it as having only a minor Latakia presence, the Latakia is the most prominent component to my taste. It is smoky, sweet, and with a bit of spiciness. The first time I smoked this blend, I thought it was a “lat bomb.” I think...

Any Yenidje in Recent H&H White Knight?

What I loved about Hearth & Home Marquee White Knight (and more so in Magnum Opus) was the Yenidje. It seems that oriental leaf is extinct, at least commercially, but I still see it included in the description of White Knight. Has anyone smoked recently purchased WK? If so, did it still have...

Cellaring in Mylar: Remove or Leave in Original Packaging?

Like other folks here are probably doing, I have been buying some 16oz. factory bags of Sutliff tobacco. I am going to be sealing much of it in Mylar, but I am not sure whether I should first remove it from the factory-sealed bags, or put the factory bag inside the Mylar. I did search the...

Please Help Me Find The Comprehensive Sasieni Shape Chart

Years ago I had found a nearly exhaustive table of Sasieni shape names and corresponding numbers for all of the other common lines. I have not needed it again until now. Unfortunately, it seems to have disappeared from the internet. It was a simple spreadsheet format with no images. The...

    Sutliff Mixture 79 Cherry Brandy

I happened across Mixture 79 Cherry Brandy at WV Smokeshop. I remember seeing an old magazine ad for it years ago, but I didn’t think it was still produced. It may be that what WVSS is old stock. There are a few reviews at Tobacco Reviews. Tongue bite looks to be a potential problem. I...

This Seller Wished Upon The Right Star (Disney Pipe Auction)

The seller could not have wished for a more fortuitous pairing of determined bidders. I have never seen a Disney pipe sell for such a princely sum. It is not even a Comoy-made pipe. Perhaps the bidders buy pipes by the number of fills? Nicely restored, vintage Walt Disney World tobacco pipe...

Kaywoodie Kohinoor Off The Catalog Page

KB&B’s Kohinoor shape is probably the rarest shape the company ever produced. I had a rough Yello Bole stummel in this shape. I gave it to a friend in the GKCPC who is a far kore qualified collector of the brand. It was probably a white elephant gift now that I think of it. I never expected...

Is Doblone d’Oro Still Worth Buying?

My existing stock of Savinelli Doblone d’Oro is about depleted. I need to decide whether to replace it. That would have been a no-brainer, but there is apparently a clear consensus that the blend has been changed. In doing my homework before creating a new thread, I was not able to pin down...

Please Help Me Date this Parker Pipe

I am usually able to date pipes with available resources, but this Parker has me stumped. It is the possessive “Parker’s,” which should mean pre-WW2. The 5 should, then, mark this as a 1928 pipe. BUT there is no patent number stamp. Any ideas?

Tasting Notes From Scotland: IRN BRU

I just got back from Scotland. I would love to share notes about the UK-only tobaccos I bought and smoked, but I cannot. Most of you well know that the UK is extremely anti-tobacco. I was not able to find pipe tobacco, though some mass market EU-produced packets may have been hiding in the...

    STOLEN!: 1926 Barling Spigot

At last weekend's Greater Kansas City Pipe Club Pipe Show a 1926 Barling Spigot was stolen. This is an incredibly uncommon pipe, so if you happen to catch a glimpse of such a pipe, you are most likely looking at stolen property. The Pipedia Barling Page has images of a Barling with 1926...

Looking for KC Area Members to Help Thin My Cellar

My thanks to the mods for granting me a little leeway here. I need to reduce my cellar, which due to a string of events also includes a lot of a friend's tobacco. Being able to work with nearby pipers would let me accomplish what is needed much more quickly and efficiently. If you are within...

    A Pack of Piersel Pipes

I just saw this slew of new Piersel pipes at Smokingpipes.com. What a magnificent sight! I consider myself lucky to have one of her pipes, a little nosewarmer chubby Billiard. With more luck I will someday own one or two more. https://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/scottie-piersel/

    1930s Comoy's Blue Riband Bargain?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/391726138797?redirect=mobile I think someone may have just got quite a good deal. They still paid a pretty penny, though.

    Trouble With P&C Site (02/18/2017)

For reasons I have yet to discover I am unable to use key parts of P&C's site. If I try to login I get only a blank page after submitting my login information. Some of my searches also produce only blank pages. Is anyone else having similar problems?

May Keith Emerson Rest in Peace

A prog rock icon has passed. While "Lucky Man" is not the song that exemplified the prog rock credentials of ELP, it was the song that introduced me to the band and has remained a favorite. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89g1P_J40JA
