Best Esoterica/Germain’s Blends I Should Buy?

I did what forum members on here told me to do and made friends with tobacconists locally and while traveling and now have a decent supply of the ones I like. I like Latakia, so I mainly go after Pembroke and And so to Bed while trying to leave the others for people who like them. Special...

The Greywoodie Show Episode 131: A conversation with Leonard Wortzel from STG

Very good show, definitely made me despise Leonard a bit less. I hope that he's right that this will be ultimately better for the pipe tobacco industry in the long run; but I'm still switching over to GL Pease and Gawith from STG...which he seemed to completely understand anyway.

    Just in from STG/MacBaren/Sutliff

That's a fair take, but since I heard the news I've acquired enough Match 965, Seattle Evening, Hood Canal, and Potlatch to last me several decades of smoking. If I do buy any blends going forward it will be Gaslight and Charing Cross. Probably Carolina red flake with Perique too when that comes...

    Just in from STG/MacBaren/Sutliff

Wow STG sucks. I'm just switching to GL Pease.

    Thoughts On STG

I completely understand that there's no such thing as job security in this world. I've seen my mom and dad get completely screwed by corporate America as they've gotten older My wife and i have planned our careers and finances around that. I'm a bit outside of it as I'm studying to become a...

    Thoughts On STG

I do, but at least C&D manufactures their products in America and hires American workers. Laudasi has corporate offices in South Carolina and I'm sure that's primarily Americans working there. I get its a foreign company, but STG is literally throwing American workers on the street just like...

    Thoughts On STG

I've been thinking about this over the past month and I think I'm with you. MM965 has been my daily smoke for a few years now, but closing Sutliff, tobaccopipes, cupojoes, and eliminating American production/jobs isn't going to get my support. My business isn't going to do anything to their...

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

I wish I could switch to the pipe as my main vehicle of nicotine, but it's really hard with apartment living in a giant city. I've started smoking more aromatics and get nothing but compliments, but I have to put a dip in to get any nicotine satisfaction. I think public and indoor smoking bans...

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

This is excellent news if true.

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

To spend $350 on 15 tins of Plum Pudding BB Aged so I always have some, or just be happy I have Pembroke hookup? Or buy several lbs of Northwoods and Countryside in case they are affected...STG has changed my holiday budget, that's for sure

    Astley Calabash

Honestly that's a relief; I would never forgive myself if I broke it, and I'd like to smoke it once and awhile to remember him.

Thank you! I didn't know that they didn't make their own pipes. It looks like the stem is horn from what I can tell.

Thank you for the info! It appears to be unsmoked.

    Astley Calabash

Hello gents, a dear friend and mentor of mine passed away three years ago; his family just got around to doing an estate sale over the weekend. It was very strange having to pay for things he would have given away freely as he was an extraordinary generous and kind man. My wife was able to get a...

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

I think that's why a lot of people are looking to East Asia to keep the tobacco industry going. That's why a lot of the anti-cigarette stuff I hear from some pipe smokers irks me. No cigarettes = none of that lovely Virginia tobacco we all love.

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

The real dilemma is we need more pipe smokers to keep it alive; however the more popular it gets the more the hammer will come down on it.

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

I hope this doesn't ruin Boswell's Northwoods and Countryside...I heard that Sutliff was the main importer of orientals for most of the US blenders.

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

Has anyone reached out to the SPC to see if their blends will survive?
