    Lane Ready Rubbed Discontinued?

I only have two unopened tins left. This really stinks that Lane stopped making this. I should have invested in a few 12 can boxes when I had the chance. I had a friend who worked at Cup Of Joe's back when they were shipping out of New York. He got me one case but I gifted a lot away .

    What's your favorite aromatic?

I would say my favorite aromatic is regular plain old Captain Black original along with Lane's RLP-6, HGL, Sutliff #600 [Mixture-79 bulk], Gawith Hoggarth Brown Flake scented, Gawith Hoggarth Rum Flake, and Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake.

Codger Blend as a Daily Smoke

    Love Mixture-79

    Modern Burleys vs. Codger Burleys

Just can't beat good o'l Prince Albert. I don't care what anyone says about burley not aging well. I've smoked 60 year old PA, SWR regular and 50 year old Half & Half. They were all STILL great smoking pipe tobaccos. PA beating the rest out. I opened a tub of Lane Limited Ready Rubbed a few...

    Modern Burleys vs. Codger Burleys

I'm still the same way with Prince Albert. Pegasus, Winchester and Cowboy Coffee are my main rotation, but I always seem to go back to PA like a loyal child coming home to Dad.

    In Praise of Mixture 79

Me too brother. I bought a few pounds as well. I'm really contemplating on buying two more pounds. Along as they are in Mason Jars and sealed correctly it can stay good almost indefinitely. I'm a HUGE Cowboy Coffee fan too. I have about three pounds of that in my cellar as well.

    In Praise of Mixture 79

I used to buy the tubs but the last few years I bought the Sutliff #600 which is the bulk version. I moved on to Country Squire's blends and Gawith Hoggarth Flakes but I still smoke a few bowls of M79 a week. When this Sutliff and MacBaren atrocity happened I bought two pounds to stow away in my...

In Praise of Classic Grocery Store Blends

I still have 12 and 14 ounce tubs of the OTC blends of yesteryear in my cellar. Whenever I'd see these blends on sale I would pick them up regardless of actually "needing" then at the time or not. I wish I would have stocked up on Kentucky Club Mild, Sugar Barrel and Walnut though. I still have...

    Anise / Licorice

Are we Really Losing That Much With the Closures of Mac Baren and Sutliff?

I feel for you man. I just tried HH Burley Flake last year and really liked it. HH, Cobblestone Hiking and Wessex BS are the burleys that I really like. I only have one unopened tin of HH Burley but a good amount of Hiking and a suitable supply of Wessex. To be honest I like the HH Burley Flake...

Are we Really Losing That Much With the Closures of Mac Baren and Sutliff?

I'm a Country Squire house blends fan. I do like some of C and D blends as well like Pegasus, Winchester, Big N' Burley, Epiphany and Crooner. The Sutliff tobaccos I like are not going to be saved which sucks. I thought they would at least keep their flagship blend Mixture-79 which I absolutely...

Are we Really Losing That Much With the Closures of Mac Baren and Sutliff?

I bought a few pounds of Mixture-79 to smoke while my tubs quietly nap in my cellar. STG just destroyed the Lane codger blends like Sir Walter Raleigh, Velvet, Paladin Black Cherry, Half & Half, Granger and the Captain Black series. I smoked ALL of them and they all suck now. I'm just glad that...

    Anise/licorice Italian Cigars?

They don't dip the wrapper. I've watched them make the Avanti anisette cigars. The factory is about an hour from my house. They have the cigars on a slightly downward rack. They stack them on top of each other then use a paint brush and basically paint a Sambuca liquor all over them. They do...

    C&D Winchester & Others

I'm so glad you like it! It ages beautifully so don't stress about it sitting in the jar for a few years. I bought a few pounds of Winchester, Pegasus and CS Cowboy Coffee. I just smoked a bowl of last years Winchester and it has become a wonderful classic tasting and smelling pipe tobacco. It...

    C&D Winchester & Others

How did you like Winchester Ben? It's been a awhile. I've been smoking Country Squire's Cowboy Coffee too.

    Cowboy Coffee

Granger, I guarantee you will like Cowboy Coffee. I never thought I would like a virginia based blend. But the dark fired Kentucky really blends great with the virginia and virginia cavendish. It's not a sweet candy cavendish, I can't explain it. It's a great blend.

    Cowboy Coffee

Cowboy Coffee been my go to for about 6 months now. Just got another pound delivered this morning. My main smoke used to be Pegasus but I bought this on a whim and immediately bought a pound. I've been burning through a pound a month.

    Anise / Licorice

My Grandfather's Dad, my great grandfather smoked Avanti Cigars. So did a family friend. They smelled wonderful. At Christmas time when my two Great Grandfather's were in the same house at our Christmas party, awww man. The smell that cae from the basement was heavenly. My grandfather and...
