    Who Snagged This!?!

I used to searches for “Straight Grain” until Shiny Pipes used that keyword for everything… including blasted and rusticated pipes. Jerks. ?????

    Show Off Your Bulldogs/Rhodesians

This one is big enough that it deserves its own post. I have named it “Bradley”. It’s my only Rad Davis pipe; and if I cube cut, it takes four flakes with some head space at the top of the bowl.

Nice! I have a couple of Comoy’s kicking around too. Here they are with a wayward BBB and an Askwith Morta.

    $2 Yard Sale Find

Nail polish remover often has other ingredients included. Don’t go there. Just head to the hardware store and grab some acetone.

    New Pipe Ghosted with 1Q.

I’m aligned with the “smoke ten bowls” tactic. That said, if you’re not afraid of a small explosion an alcohol retort would help too… — PRuss

    Couple of Pipes Come Home

Pretty nice when a couple kids come home after a long trip abroad. Thanks for sharing, Mike. — PRuss

    Saving the Stamping

Yep. Those all make good sense. I’ve done similarly when addressing burnouts by drilling them out and plugging them. I’m at the point now, though, that if I see a break or burnout I just move on to another pipe. For me, the return from sale won’t match the investment in time or $$ for that...

    Who Snagged This!?!

When I was hunting, those were one of my favourites. Second only to the awful photo and barely identified mislabeled pipe listing.

    That’s a good buy.

    Saving the Stamping

This is why I fled North America to the South Pacific. So… why do we want to remove stain? It’s usually put on pipes for good reason. Sometimes stain is used to accentuate good grain, or to hide mediocre grain, or to bury fills behind colour. I have never fully stripped a stummel, not in 100s...

    First PAD in Five Years….

Yeah, Jim, agreed on the difference. Your pipes markings and those on my pipe are the same. I still think it’s likely that they are the initials of the silversmith, or perhaps the retailer.

    First PAD in Five Years….

Yep. I’ve seen that before on pipes of the same era; notably BBBs.

So… essentially a store stamp on the sterling. Jon, does this jive? SH on the band referring to Salamon and Hecht? Cheers — Pat

I have it on good authority he has yet another Parks commission underway. smh

    First PAD in Five Years….

How about I sell him a box, and then the two of us have a coffee together: what with us being the only two pipe collectors in Aotearoa.

    First PAD in Five Years….

Me too. I’m pretty sure the box is a late addition.

Pretty sure it’s Birmingham and 1901.
