Made Pipe #34 - The Pink Lady Apple

This has a handcut ebonite stem and a snakewood stem inlay. It was supposed to be the engagement apple pipe I was making for Dan N but a huge pit developed in both the shank and the bowl. I chased the flaws out and ended up with a small pipe. I have turned this into a ladies' pipe and will be...

    Made Pipe #33, The Saxy

My nieces names this one. This was to be a long churchwarden, absolutely huge pipe. . . but I've had terrible luck with my briar lately. The shank cracked but I was too attached to the stummel to toss it in the garbage. So this is what I came up with to salvage it. It'll be for sale on my table...

Made Pipe #32 - The Blonde Author

I originally cracked the stem hand filing it so I had to wait until I got a long enough piece of white before I continued. In looking at the photos, what wasn't apparent in my workshop, is that a little bit more needed to be taken off the top off the bowl to shank junction to truly make that...

Made Pipe #31, The Rotten Tomato

Background HERE This one was fun. I've been in a rut and wrecked the last 4 pipes I was making. So I am running low on briar and Chicago is coming. I decided to switch my focus onto this since it was already drilled and sitting on my bench. I'll be taking it to Chicago with me to put out on my...

Made Pipe #30 - The Horny Dublin

For IPSD, decided to see if I could finish a pipe that was on my bench for a few months. I did, albeit a few hours late. This is a cross between a horn and a dublin. Hence the name. I tried a lighter rustication on this one. There were too many pits to not rusticate. I hit it with some red, but...

Made Pipe #29, Morta Eskimo Soup

First time using Bog Oak. Had to leave it smooth as I don't have a blaster. Would have preferred a deep blast on this one.

    A Newer Pipemaking Trend

So, if I get a metal lathe and pump out a ton of chubby pokers, sometimes put a ring or other adornment around the shank, and give it a thick but pretty colored stem, I can be a successful pipe maker? What is the appeal? Anyone? I don't dislike pokers, but when I look at someone's body of work...

Made Pipe #28 - The Freehand Sitter

Sits a little crooked, but adds character. Still struglling getting this ebonite buttery smooth. Gotta try some new things. That stem profile is tough by hand.

    Made Pipe #27, Brandy's Pitfall

So this thing started as a magnum Brandy. 7/8" by 3" tobacco chamber, absolutely monstrous. I fell in love with the grain and 4 pits showed up. I decided I wanted to keep it smooth so worked 3 pits out. Went to chase the last one and it just kept going and going and going. What I am left with is...

    Help Me Choose Birthday Tin

In the next few hours, I will be popping a sealed tin in celebration of my birthday. I went and glanced at my cellar and found a few things I've yet to try. Help me decide! Bennington Union Jack from the early 90s Bennington Knightsbridge from the early 90s McClelland PCCA Winter 1995-1996...

Made Pipe #26, The Lanky Tomato

Cuz its my birthday, and I'll make a pipe if I want to! LOL This one turned into a shop pipe, so in a way, it is a birthday present to myself. There is a pit in the chamber. So I figure I'll smoke the heck out of it and see if cake alone will prevent it from burning out over time. Like an R&D test.

Made Pipe #25, The Golem Prince

    This one was fun!

    Pipe #24, The Unorthodox Puffer

This one just came off the bench. First time ever rusticating. I had some issues with the briar chunking out at the rim and shank edges. I had to shave off about 1/4" from both the top of the bowl and the shank to fix it, but I was able to save it! Pretty happy with the results overall!

    Pipe #23, A Chubby Author

Made this for The Pipe Monk. 2nd time using ebonite. I am happy, but realize to really get things where I want, I'll have to get a lathe in the next year or so. This is my nicest pipe yet. Gonna have a sister as a set, that's what I'm working on next.

    Pipe #22, The Orca Whale

First time using ebonite, much softer than the acrylic I'm used to. Buggered the button up a little bit. I'm pretty stoked about it overall. It is a gift to my wife. She doesn't smoke, so it will get displayed with her orca collection.

    Made Pipe #20, Bluebeard

Just finished this one. I won't be using blue stain again for a while. It is VERY hard to work with. Also, I need to learn to bend my stems better. I just started using a heat gun so a little more practice. I'm satisfied with it overall.

Made #19, A Fantasy Pipe "The Tide"

This one just came off the workbench. It is my first time doing an exotic hardwood stem insert, this one is bocote wood. There were some special dental considerations in play so the button/bit area is quite a bit different than on my previous pipes. I had a heck of a time buffing the swooping...

    Help Inspire My Next Pipe

Here's the game, two word suggestions. Only one per member. One word must indicate a pipe shape, the other word can be whatever you want. The idea is the two words become a hybrid inspiration for one of my next pipes. The person with the best two word hybrid, decided by me, will receive the pipe...

WIP Thread - clickklick and rx2man Elephant's Feet

I am starting this thread for rx2man and myself to post progress pictures of the Elephant's Foot pipes we are working on concurently. This is in no way a competition, but I thought that since we are making the same shape, for the same customer, and are both new pipemakers, that this would be a...

    Pipe #15, A Lovat

Very difficult traditional shape without a lathe. I have 16 hours in this one. This one was a test in patience for me. I hope it smokes well!
