Can I Cut a Hacksaw Blade?

Does anyone know how to cut a hacksaw blade? I made a tool to put the grooves on a bulldog style pipe, but I need a small blade, about 1/2 inch long to intall in order to complete the tool. Any saw type blade will work, so other suggestions are welcome.

I Think This Looks Like a Lee Van Cleef

I'm trying (not very hard) to stop buying pipes. But I found this one, and bought if for a resonable amount. I plan on replacing the stem with a yellowish acrylic, like the LVC pipe. I'd appreciate advice on where to send it for stem replacement. It is from the 1920's unused and seems to have...

    Meer Question

When smoking my meerschaum can I touch the bowl? It is an estate pipe and already showing decent color. It seems a little awkward to be holding it by the stem.

Results From Rough Carved Briars to Finished Pipe

I bought a couple of shaped bowls with the tobacco chamber pre drilled, and a couple of stems from ebay and using my drill press I finished them up, sorta. Being my first try they aren't perfect, but they both smoke very good and I can try again when I want. When I inserted the derlin tenon in...

    Restoration Staining Oops

I was refinishing a bent Comoy's, and after applying a saddle tan dye I fumbled around for a match to set the stain. I had applied to much stain and I had a small drip on the bottom of the pipe. When I set the stain it created a dark ring where the drip was. I resanded, but I coudn't remove the...

    My First Meerschaum

I just aquired my first meerschaum. I bid on four others in the last 3 seconds and was outbid each time. I was the last losing bidder three times, but there is no telling what the winner put in for a high bid, so no hard feeeling, I bid my highest and lost. I paid about $80 including shipping on...

    Kaywoodie And Other Meerschaums

After reading all the comments on meer pipes and how they smoke cool, I started loooking on ebay to see what is available. I was suprised to find Kaywoodie made a block meerschaum. I have read some of the big names on this site, includig Altinok, SMS, Baki and another that seems to be associated...

    NG Question

NG, new guy. Do different tobacco's burn hotter? I'm a sipper and I can grip my pipe while smoking, but it seems like Dunhill 965 is hotter then Froggy's Cellar, and others. Also the 965 seems to burn to a nice white ash. The 965 also seems to burn to the bottom of the bowl better. I dry my...

    My Pipe PAD

I started smoking in Dec, 2012. I soon realized I needed pipes for a rotation. So I was off to Ebay. I have around a half dozen other pipes currently being cleaned or culled out. Only the Bonaquisti and the Savinelli Autograph Grade 000 cost over $100, and the Ser Jacopo was $85, all the rest...

Can An Over Bored Pipe Be Saved?

I aquired a very dirty estate pipe, and during extensive cleaning I discovered the shank bore hole will fit a folded cleaner easily. Short of inserting a dowel and redrilling can this cheap no name, but very nice looking pipe be saved?

    Vacation Return to Sad News

I just attended a family wedding in Mexico. When I returned home I found that my dog and best friend Mick, had a been hit and killed by a driver in front of my home, in a subdivision and the driver didn't even stop. The driver may have even come on the sidewalk to hit Mick. Mick was the best...

Missed Out On This Listing, Argh!

I've been watching this group of pipes on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/321069746306?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I planned on submitting my offer in the last few second. I know some members consider snipping to be a bad thing, but I determine my high bid and submit it...

    Keeping My Pipe Lit?

When I light my pipe I manage to smoke about 40 minutes with little or no relighting. After 40 or so minutes, when I need to relight, it seems I am constantly relighting. I still have plenty of tobacco in the bowl. I have been tamping lightly and the draw is still easy. Any suggestions?

Pipe Sale, BOGO, at Paul's, Great Buy

Paul's pipe shop in Flint, Mi. isn't one of the site sponsors but is listed in the pipe store locator. I am in no way affiliated with Paul's, but I lived in Flint for many years, and know the shop to be one of the finest anywhere. Paul Spaniola, a multiple winner and I believe founder in the...
