    Chicago Pipe Show 2020 Plans

I get it. I'm paying extra, not a few bucks. Over $100 extra for three nights. 2 adults, one bed. Not ideal. But I'm paying and attending. I'm happy there is a show. I will also donate to the auction like I do every year. So will my father. We will also spend money at the auction and meals at...

    Chicago Pipe Show 2020 Plans

I am shaking my head that the group rate for the show is more expensive than booking direct without the "group" rate. Group rates should be cheaper. I booked with the club link regardless, I'm in from Friday through Monday. Hopefully support this year means next year the Westin's group rate is...

Pipe Smoking Study, It Doesn't Look Good.

I read it and looked at the numbers. Its pretty in depth but not without it flaws. In the 1980s they found a bunch of men between age 30 and 99 who smoked a pipe to some degree etc. The median age at time of enrollment was late 50s. 20 years later less than 20% of the individuals had died, and...

Fantastic. That shape is also one that shows the la dune finish nicely. That flame is a show stealer though!

    Advise on Good Pipe Restorer

After the recent thread with the shoddy Briarville bulldog restem, I would hesitate to send any of my pipes that direction. Although you all seem to praise them.. I wonder if that bulldog example may not have been an accurate representation of their normal quality of work?! My vote at this time...

At-Home Stain Job not 'Sticking' to Restored Pipe

Two things: 1. How did you remove the original finish from the pipe? 2. Switch to diluting the powders with denatured alcohol and you will want to put a top coat on to set the stain, there are Many methods to do this the most common being a shellac mix or a danish oil treatment.

Does Current Produced Schürch Onix 128 Still has Sirian Latakia?

Sometimes it is better to be conservative. Most topics in the pipe world are full of rumors... so what's another one? I've been around long enough to know how people are looked at when they name drop. I'm not one of those people. You'd probably be interested to know that there is also currently...
