    Peterson Pipes - Don't Like

I have four petes and I like them all. With that said, I don't subscribe that petes are the best pipes and enjoy some of my other pipes considerably more then my petes. However, I do think that petes probably give you a wonderful smoke for the money! Try altering your p-lips into fish tales as...

What is a good English Blend to start out with?

If you want some nice lighter very flavorful tobaccos try: A. Balkan Sasieni B. GL Pease - Westminster C. GL Pease - Logonda D. McClelland - 3 Oaks Syrian These are all very good English type blends that are easy to smoke and very flavorful.

I know that they have been talked about to death on this forum...

I have bought both tobacco and several pipes, both estate and new from Smokingpipes.com and every deal has been positive in that they respond to on-line questions rapidly, the service is fast and they always follow up with their orders on-line very quickly. I think smokingpipes.com's bigest...

    Ardor or Claudio Cavicchi?

I have been thinking of buying an Ardor pipe. I already own a Cavicchi which I absolutely love since it is a great smoker and the pipe engineering is second to none (draft hole in the middle, at the bottom of the bowl and the draft hole is large) similar to my Castellos. I have read ocassional...

Pipetamper: Welcome to the pipe culture. You can, as I have, learn a lot from this Forum. I have smoking a pipe for many years and I am still learning. Welcome, I think that you will enjoy years of enjoyment.

    Tobacco Pouches

I have the same type of leather pouch as you do. I simply place enough tobacco in my pouch for up to three days and have a clay silver button in the pouch to keep the tobacco from drying out too much. Of course, I live in Sugar Land, TX and the humidity helps. Good luck.

    moisture problem

Sager: When you load your pipe place a small amount of tobacco on the botton and tamp lightly like is popcorn. Then load your pipe a little more and tamp with your finger load once more to the top and tamp with your finger for the last time then light for your scorching light. This series of...

    GLP Westminster Review

Kashmir: Very good review. I to smoke mostly English blends and after smoking several I always seem to gravitate back to GLP's Westminister. Regards,

    Air Hole

Puffy: The air hole is very important to enjoying your pipes. I have four Petersons and have drilled all of them since their air or draft wholes are too small, what a difference. Do yourself a favor and read "In Search of Pipe Dreams" by Rick Newcombe. He is a staunch advocate for opening up...

What's So Good About English Blends?

I love English blends, however, what gives me the nicotine high are the Orientals. As described by GLP when I asked him about why GLP Meridian gives me a "high" his response is that many English blends have various Orientals whereby the Ph level is higher therefore often causing some smokers to...

Kevin: Why doesn't GLP provide the questions and responses from his web site? It would be interesting to read GLP's responses so that we all may learn something. Regards,

    Balkan Sasieni bulk

Kashmir: I know what you mean. I bought a pound of a copy of Dunhill 965 My Mixture from a tobacconist in Austin, TX and it wasn't even close to the original. If you like a latikia blend with virginia overtones try GLP Meridian since it is a very complex and savory blend or latikia, viginias and...

    Collections

Welcome to the pipe world. Beginning to smoke a pipe is very confusing since first the selection of what pipe, what tobacco, how to keep the pipe lit and the tobacco fresh. Do your self a favor and visit a reputable pipe shop and get this advice. As to what pipe to buy to begin your...

    Break In Blends

There is no best tobacco to use to break-in a new pipe. Simply smoke the tobacco that you like the best at the time and remember to have patience and try to smoke the tobacco all the way to the bottom of the bowl. That said, I would stay away from any tobacco that is too aromatic since these...

    Opened Tin storage?

I have tried it both ways, living it in the tin for a short while and placing the tobacco in a storage jar right away after opening the tin. It is safer to place the tinned tobacco in a jar right away, however, it depends on how much you smoke. Sine you didn't specify what the tin size was I am...

    Mosquito Repellant

What about an electric fan. Does a ceiling fan, on the patio overhang while smoking a latekia blend, work to keep mosquitos away?

What makes a pipe a good smoker ?

I think the answer to what makes a pipe a good smoker has to do with three things. First, the quality of the briar. Second, the mechanics of the pipe as to how low the hole is on the bottom of the bowl, the size of the draft, etc. Finally, the last reason a pipe smokes well is not obvious at...

    Cake Thickness

Puffy: I have always heard that the cake thickness should be betweeen a dime and a nickel at the most. However, this conventional wisdom depends on bowl size, type of tobacco and personal preference. As mendtioned, it is a good idea to use a bent pipe cleaner or paper towel after every bowl...
