    My smoking place

It looks like you are well established in this hobby, hopefully one day I can also have such a room, and so much tobacco and accessories.

How Old Would You Say This Grabow is?

I'm interested in seeing what it looks like after the refinishing as well.

Woot! My Wife Got Me Some Cigars!

Very lucky. That looks like it'd be at least $400 worth in Canada. I'm jealous.

    Question about filters

It's by Lorenzetti, it's from the "Emperor" line, the specific pipe is called "Augustus Cesar". There's others named after other Emperors.

    Question about filters

Okay, I've just bought the pipe, expected to come in on Wednesday. I think from now on, I am going to mostly buy pipes which give you an option of using a filter or not using a filter, because I like to have that choice.

    Question about filters

I am almost settled on buying this pipe: https://victorypipes.ca/shop-tobacco-pipes/lorenzetti-pipes/augustus-caesar-pipe-shape-27 It says it has an insert to allow it to be smoked without a filter, and that it can take a 9mm filter. Seems like the best of both worlds to me, being able to use it...

Nice looking, not too expensive dark pipes.

Well, my current briar is also non-filter, and it doesn't give me a problem. I assume as far as nicotine goes, since you're not inhaling (at least not on purpose), it's not that big of a deal. I assume. I may be wrong of course.

Nice looking, not too expensive dark pipes.

Right now I'm looking at the Tsuge Tasting pipes, specifically the 16: https://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/tsuge/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=326200 It says it doesn't come with a filter, but I wonder, could I use a filter with it if I want? I do prefer to use a filter, to limit nicotine intake.

I think I may be starting to look a little older.

I didn't know this until last night, but in Canada, as of march last year, someone underage (under 19), is not allowed in a tobacco store without an adult accompanying them. If I had known this earlier, I would have known that they didn't have any concerns about me, simply because of the fact...

Why did you start pipe smoking

I mainly started because I assessed that in the long run, after you buy a pipe and tobacco, and have a few smokes, the cost is much less than constantly buying cigars. Especially in Canada. So essentially, cost effectiveness.

I think I may be starting to look a little older.

As far as under age customers go, some stores are willing to knowingly do so. When I was in grade 9, 14 years old, there was a mall with a food court and a plaza walking distance from my high school where kids often went for lunch during the lunch period, also on that plaza was a convenience...

I think I may be starting to look a little older.

As far as a pipe goes, I'm not making any final decision until at least tomorrow, but there are a couple top candidates for sure. I find it strange too, that you were asked for ID all the way into your 40's. Even if you looked young for your age, at some point young for your age would still look...

I think I may be starting to look a little older.

I'm on the younger side, 24. Until recently, I almost always got asked for ID when buying alcoholic beverages, and the few times I've bought cigars previously, before I took up pipe smoking a week ago. However ever since then, the multiple times I have bought alcohol and tobacco products, I was...

Nice looking, not too expensive dark pipes.

Still no decision until tomorrow at least, but this is a serious contender: https://victorypipes.ca/shop-tobacco-pipes/lorenzetti-pipes/augustus-caesar-pipe-shape-27 only 2 hours away from me, canadian so canadian prices, etc.

Buying tobacco from another country, into Canada

That's a major bummer. I guess a good rule of thumb is, have whatever it costs, as well as shipping, and it's duty in your budget.

Does the size of the tin matter, or only that it's a tin?

Buying tobacco from another country, into Canada

Having just realized the price of tobacco here is very expensive, I am thinking of maybe buying tobacco in bulk from the states, once I find a blend I like, because I think even after shipping, customs, and dutys, it should be much cheaper, than buying domestically, especially after November...
