    I have pipes with stems made of acrylic, vulcanite and horn. My preference is acrylic even if a little harder on the teeth, due to very low upkeep. Maintenance of vulcanite can become tedious.

    I find it be a high quality product and the higher ABV doesn't bother me. That being said, I had better quince brandies from Serbia. I was born in Brasov, now living in NYC, and sometimes drink palinca for nostalgia.

    It might be related to your mouth pH and your daily diet. Also, smoking cadence. I would smoke some straight virginia and some straight burley to see what creates discomfort, and adjust accordingly.
