    newbie pipe addiction

Nobody really knows how a pipe will perform until they smoke out of it. So, we all go by pictures of what we like. Something bent, something straight, something large and another just piquant?

    newbie pipe addiction

I'm clearly confused. When you ask about "style" are you referring to "shape"? Regardless, you also state, that in part, you want to buy more in order to find the ones you like the most. How can you buy "more" to figure out what you like the most without trying different "styles" or "shapes"...

The (Un)Official PipesMagazine Secret Santa Thread 2022!

That was from a Santa gig I did at Pet Smart some years back in Santa Fe. Kinda fun, except some people brought their pets, and their kids... kids ask questions... it's more difficult than one might think to give the correct answer, as Santa. Especially when those kids thought I was the "real"...

    Cast Iron

This is correct, my oldest daughter is a Chef and has worked in several high-end places. But there are good reasons why restaurants use stainless and aluminum. They heat up faster, they clean up faster, they require no time or effort deal with maintaining the seasoning, but they last for years...

    Pear Wood Pipes- Any good?

I can't speak for pear wood, but i was gifted a churchwarden made from olive wood, very similar. It started to burn out the second time I smoked a bowl. It's been sitting in my closet for 6 years waiting on repair and mud. So, I wouldn't recommend that. But Missouri Meerschaum are cheap, long...

    Who Likes Venison?

Lot's of fun! Done at night, with a spot light and a frog gig, or spear. Blackened frog legs are scrumptious!

    Who Likes Venison?

Absolutely. I also like wild boar, rabbit, squirrel, duck, goose, and dove. And frog legs! You got it wrong my friend. We don't act like we like the game meat as an excuse to hunt, rather the wonderful meat, prepared correctly, is part of the reward for a successful hunt. Along with great memories.

Who Buys Tins to Age Ten Years or More?

Yes, I do! For all the same reasons. But 10yrs is my goal. I don't cellar for periods longer than that. I have a few that are 12-13 yrs, but I will hit those first when I want to open a new tin.

Sealed Tins or Mason Jars for Aging/Cellaring?

Once you open a sealed tin you will go from aging using microbes that live a anaerobic environment, to microbes that live in a aerobic environment. Different microbes different aging process. It's been argued that the "aging" process as we know it pretty much stops once you reintroduce oxygen...

Sealed Tins or Mason Jars for Aging/Cellaring?

^^^ I agree. If you have a good round sealed tin, leave it alone. I even have a lot of square tins, but I bought them new, and they have been in a climate controlled environment so I know they've been safe. But, if in doubt, dump it out into a mason jar.

    The Popsicle Stick Trick

I see the benefit here with what you're doing. However, personally, I kinda enjoy spending some time on occasion scraping and fussing over my cake with my fancy dancy carbon cake bowl removal tools. I like seeing how thick I can get the cake, and I like seeing the pile of scrapings after I do a...
