    Esoterica Brighton: First Impressions

I'll give that a shot too. With a few topped blends I like, namely Erinmore and RY, drying them out thoroughly makes the topping dissipate. I was a bit afraid that might happen here. And from the smell of Brighton in the bag, I knew I wanted to taste it as much as possible so I packed it up when...

    Esoterica Brighton: First Impressions

The advice is appreciated. I *thought* I smoked fairly slow, but I definitely have some years of practice to go before I reach that level of tantric mastery.

    Esoterica Brighton: First Impressions

This is an interesting one! Tin/bag aroma smells delicious. A bit like buttery biscuits with apricot jam. The description doesn't mention any topping or casing, but a deep inhale says this definitely has one or the other. Tried it in a group 4 sized billiard. Charring light was mind blowing...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Innaugural smoke for my first ever dunhill pipe, purchased today at the White Spot trunk show at Iwan Ries.

Yeah, it's pretty great. That one and Chet Baker Sings spend a lot of time on my turntable.

Kiribi Kabuto / IM Corona Old Boy Comparison

Thanks for the clarification Sykes! Totally useful info. Any chance you'd be willing to confirm or refute my conjecture that the Kiribi and Peterson's share a good amount of DNA?

Kiribi Kabuto / IM Corona Old Boy Comparison

I've had my eye on the Rattray's Bel. Love the look of it but just don't know anything about it so I'd be really interested to hear more about your thoughts on yours.

Kiribi Kabuto / IM Corona Old Boy Comparison

That's sad to hear. 2 years seems to be about my average for the ones with the piezo igniter and the plastic tank (even when they hide it behind a metal exterior). I had higher hopes for the kiribi because of the brass tank and the replaceable flints.

Good catch! I did not notice that!

Kiribi Kabuto / IM Corona Old Boy Comparison

Yeah, like yanoJL said. Had it repaired once. $35 (which FWIW included both the repairs and the return shipping). If you can find one used, it may be worth it depending on how much you save. For me, they were cheaper when I bought mine. I paid $120. Plus the $35 for repairs. Total cost to me...

Kiribi Kabuto / IM Corona Old Boy Comparison

There have been a few threads on this here, but I haven't seen a direct comparison thread yet. I have an Old Boy that I've had for about 10-12 years and a Kiribi Kabuto that I just bought a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd create a post with a technical comparison for anyone who might be...

    Choicest Plugs

If you like strongly scented tobaccos like Condor and 1792, War Horse Bar might be worth a try. I couldn't even begin to guess what it's topped with, but it is most certainly unique. And in my opinion, very enjoyable, but I have a feeling its a love it or hate it kind of deal.

    Choicest Plugs

Another vote for Revor plug. It can be pricey in the US if you include the cost of the plane ticket to the UK. But if you're there anyway, pick some up. The flavoring is a bit odd. I can't think of a single other thing like it. Or even a good way to describe it. My best ballpark would be...

I chose Rattray's 40 Virginia for the maiden voyage of this newly arrived D R Franc. All aboard that's coming aboard. Next port, Ash-ville.

It's a one of those days that ends in "y" so it must be Old Dark Fired. Relaxation enhanced by the dulcet tones of my dog snoring loudly in the background.

Nice grain on that one! I'm jealous. I've been looking for a Milverton in the dark smooth finish for a few months now. No luck so far. The search continues. The game is afoot!

Balkan Sobriane & Esoterica; What's the Deal?

Circling back around to this with a few new thoughts... Part of the reason I've pretty much given up on Germain and Esoterica tobaccos at this point is that I've been down a very similar road before with the Buffalo Trace antique collection whiskies. For the first two years after it was...
