    Capstan Blue!

Vauen no. 14 is also very good. A sweet and basic virginia flake with a really nice topping of hazelnut and vanilla, which shows trough some time troughout the bowl. Mac Baren Virginia Flake is also very nice. Give it some time in a jar, and it is just waves of supremely sweet honey. Really...

    My Astas Meerschaum Progression

Probably the color is just from it heating up right? My meer did not stay completely white very long, but took a 100 smokes to see true color.

Show Off Your Meerschaum Pipes Here!

How much and how long do you need to smoke it for it to turn shit brown? I've not gotten close to that color with mine.

    Smoking Briar vs Meerschaum Pipes

You definetly can build a real cake in a meer, which I think I have posted photos of. But it recquires some time. If you don't wipe the ashes out and just blow out the stem, it will eventually build cake. When you first get a meer though, it might seem as if they never build cake. It takes some...

    Rubbing Out Flakes.

I got scurvy from rubbing it out too much. Needed to stop -- doctor's orders.

    Rubbing Out Flakes.

I think that the best results for me when folding is when the flakes are folded and allowed to dry completely crispy. Then there is no problem with keeping it lit. Rubbed out tobacco you can smoke at any moisture basically (not that you would want to).

    Rubbing Out Flakes.

I might very well agree. Flavor and ease of smoking is definetly better with a rubbed out flake. It is a shorter smoke though, but that is worth it.

    Rubbing Out Flakes.

Grotesque title. Changed. Shame! Do you claim innocence due to living in Scandinavia?? In my deep reflections about Lee's and Marxmen, I came across a very interesting question. Do the members of this forum usually rub out their flakes or fold them?

    Smoking Briar vs Meerschaum Pipes

Meerschaum smokes about as cool as a briar. Maybe a little bit less moisture in the dottle, but that's about it. Meers are harder to keep clean too. All in all, they feel similar, but it's cool to color a meer.

    Full Virgina Flake (Sam Gawith)

How do you smoke this stuff? Can't get it to be satisfactory, and only got good flavor out of one of many tries.

What Pen are You Using Today?

Not using it today, but every day of the work week I use a Lamy 2000. Simply the best pen I've ever used. No fuss, just a great pen.

Who has Been Successful Losing Weight and Keeping It Off?

Tracking calories worked very well for me. Lost enough to not be chubby and get a four pack. Getting a six pack seemed like it would take too much time and energy. But I've managed to keep almost all of the weight off a year later. Also, eating healthy with lots of fiber, protein and greens...

Kopp to Handle "Worldwide Distribution" of HU Tobaccos

Seriously, unless you love the blends mentioned being discontinued (produced by Dan Tobacco, like Haymaker), don't get wound up. A lot of iconic blends will still be available.

Kopp to Handle "Worldwide Distribution" of HU Tobaccos

Seems to me like blends made by Dan Tobacco are being discontinued. Which makes perfect sense considering they are a competitor.

A Most Curious Blend: Gawith’s “Jamaican Flake”

EU regulation does not allow tobacco to be called names likened to food.

Post-2015 Samuel Gawith, Bob Gregory’s Story

The mystery that I am most bewildered by is that of the origins of synjeco tobaccos. The social media woman for Gawith said that they haven't imported anything to them in years, but they are still selling their ropes. So I don't know what is going on there.

School me on Cutty Shaped Pipes

Very wise question Briar Lee. I have, of course, been ruminating about this too. In my reflections I have not found much... Some people have said that the "feet" are heat dissipators, but I don't believe that. It seems a lot more likely that it is just for the pipe to sit. Looking at charts...
