A Look at STG Internal Documents Regarding the Mac Baren / Sutliff Buyout

I bet most of the former Dunhill blends (the famous ones anyway) will still be produced. However it sounds from what was said in the video like STG may have been disappointed by their sales figures once shifted to the Peterson brand name.

    Who made these?

Could have been made for a tobacconist shop. There wouldn't necessarily be any record of that on the web if it ceased to exist before, say, 1995.

A Look at STG Internal Documents Regarding the Mac Baren / Sutliff Buyout

Currently the following ex-Dunhill blends are all on the SP top 25 best selling list so should be fine: My Mixture 965 Nightcap Early Morning Pipe Peterson Flake Deluxe Navy Rolls

A Look at STG Internal Documents Regarding the Mac Baren / Sutliff Buyout

I'm curious about the destruction of Sutliff factory equipment to keep it from competitors. I wonder what machinery C&D doesn't have that Sutliff owns. A high capacity industrial press for flakes? In any case I really wish Sykes Wilford and Laudisi had bought Mac Baren instead of STG. Two...

A Look at STG Internal Documents Regarding the Mac Baren / Sutliff Buyout

This stinks worse than a bag of Enerdale Flake.

Selling Off Bulk Aged Loose Tobacco Query.

Another idea: place a notice in the Pipe Club of London's newsletter explaining what is available. Someone might be interested.

Selling Off Bulk Aged Loose Tobacco Query.

I might take a table at a pipe show to sell it. Or partner with a show dealer to keep the cost down. You could have the jars for sale on a table or offer some by the bag. But it is not an easy or fast process.

    TAD Acquisitions 2024

Those various Amphora pouches are the most underrated baccy on the market. Affordable and all high quality broken flake. I even like the Full Aroma, which is a semi aro. It has a little bit of Oriental to keep it interesting. I hope STG keeps these in production.

Update on the STG Closure Of Sutliff and Mac Baren

I've been thinking about the component tobaccos independent blenders sourced from Sutliff. There's really no reason why STG can't supply this from Danish production. The components in Peter Stokkebye bulk will likely be sold wholesale to these blenders. The only open question in my mind is what...

    What Sutliff Products to Purchase?

Agree with some of the advice above. I would not speculate on bulk blends unless they are truly legendary (like McClelland's 5100 Red Cake). Generally only tins can be resold reliably. A lot of the Sutliff branded blends are not held in high regard on the order of Germains. And most of it is...

Announcement from Missouri Meerschaum Regarding Some Blends

Do they have a tobacco production facility in Bethlehem PA?

Announcement from Missouri Meerschaum Regarding Some Blends

I recall when you open a pouch of the Iwan Ries 3 Star Blue it says Suttliff on the inside.

    TAD Acquisitions 2024

Interesting that this is a match blend for Elizabethan Mixture. Which means the new owner STG is the producer of the target blend.

If You Could Visit any Pipe Shop...

I was lucky enough to be around to see Kramer's pipe shop in Beverly Hills, Barclay Rex in New York, the original Nat Sherman on Fifth Avenue, and Arnold's Tobacco Shop on Madison Avenue. All now gone.

    Thoughts On STG

A 5-pack for $80 if I recall. 2 bidders competing. I thought it wouldn't sell. Pipestud once told me he wouldn't take it on consignment.

    Thoughts On STG

I recently put a supply of Standard's John Cottons Numbers 1 &2 on TinBids. They were snapped up pretty quick I was surprised.

    Thoughts On STG

STG had been making the Dunhill blends for a long time. I believe since early 2000's. I recently sampled a tin of Murray's era Early Morning Pipe and compared it to the current STG version. What I found is they are remarkably consistent. Allowing for the effects of age in the tin, the flavors...

    Ogden's St Julien

What I took away from reading many of the correspondence back and forth is that BAT licensed the manufacture of blends (and cigarettes) to different regions, and then would ship the flavorings in steel drums around the world. The flavorings is how they controlled the brands in factories that...
