    Javan's Cigar Adventure (Pic Heavy)

The tobacco we call pipe leaf, is just a tobacco leaf from farmers' point of view. Michael tells it all the time. You may take a cigar leaf and make Cavendish from it for example. I renamed the thread, will be experimenting and updating regularly.

    Javan's Cigar Adventure (Pic Heavy)

I think there are some people who grow their own tobacco in Australia, is there any possibility to buy from them? I will definitely get a mold in the future. For now, I am cutting a strip from A4 paper and wrapping it around the bunch.

    Javan's Cigar Adventure (Pic Heavy)

Good draw and firm ash is the result of entubado bunching. I guess the answer to your question is "quality control". Rollers are not paid well, have to roll probably 200 cigars a day, so they just don't care about the draw. For me the first cigar took around 30 minutes or so to roll, the second...

    Javan's Cigar Adventure (Pic Heavy)

A cigar weighs approximately 10 grams (0.35 oz) which is 1/5 of 50 gram (1.76 oz) tin of a pipe tobacco. So it makes sense. I haven't calculated yet, but most say that it costs $1.5-2 per cigar if you are rolling your own. You definitely have to. I guess I am the first one doing this here in...

    Javan's Cigar Adventure (Pic Heavy)

Learning how to roll a cigar was in my wishlist for a while. Few weeks ago I decided to get some leaves from the States and start learning. Here are the leaves I used: Wrapper - Brazilian Mata Fina Binder - Dominican Binder Fillers - Aged Dominican Ligero Piloto Cubano and Aged Dominican Seco...

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

I made a mistake of not testing the draw right after bunching. When I did the draw test, it was already wrapped, so didn't want to undo everything. The draw was very loose. Another mistake was not letting it rest for a day or so, because I was so excited to smoke it. Believe me or not, the taste...

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

My 5 year (soon 6) old son is starting school tomorrow. Found this 5 year old cigar from my humidor to celebrate. Although it has a perfect construction, draw and burn, it is a bland cigar, probably came in a sampler years ago. Or maybe the years took its character and strength away. No idea...

    How To Reduce Humidity Level?

Remove the bovedas, you have enough humidity anyway. You may leave your humidor open under direct sunlight for a while, but don't overdo it. Please remove your cigars while doing it, don't leave them under sunlight. Let the humidor dry a little bit, then put your cigars back into it and check...
