    Aged Tobacco: Quality and Value?

bought a 10 year old HH Old Dark Fired from pipestud last week - now to buy a fresh one for some comparisons!

    Packing a Flake?

Thanks guys - dried out my tobacco for the first time last night and it was much better - and still think I need to go even more dry. I'm gonna give a run at folding after I get better at drying things out. But... I'm also interested in trying to cube cut now.

    What do Filters Do?

I'm the last who should answer - but I was searching filter sizes... and from what I found, filters are based on diameter - so, if you can make a reasonable guess at diameter you might get another filter that works. they're cheap, but a few different sizes and try?

    Sacramento Pipe Club?

When I click on your avatar in here I see Los Angeles/St. George - but yeah, to search the forum for Sacramento region people would be rad

    What do Filters Do?

Thanks!!! Good feedback. Now to experiment with/without the filters and see how that goes. I did like that I could get after it a bit more with the filter without tongue bite - BUT I also realize this could affect flavor.

    What do Filters Do?

Title edited for caps and brevity. -jpm Smoking my Savinelli Duca Carlo (first "real" pipe I ever bought back just out of college) It runs a 6mm filter, and I haven't had one in it since when I first bought it. I installed a carbon filter tonight and fired it up, and I don't know if it's in my...

    Packing a Flake?

that actually helps a lot - my brain is getting slow at my 41 year old age, and I hadn't even thought about drying and then putting it into a jar. Thanks!

    Packing a Flake?

Super dumb question - as a guy who smokes 1-2 times a week - would you just pull some out and let it sit until next time? coming from cigars I have a huge fear of going too dry, but I'm starting to get the feeling there's nearly no such thing as too dry with pipes.

    Packing a Flake?

I was reading/watching last night about cube cutting - pretty sold on giving this a go next time

    Packing a Flake?

After going after a flake last night, I'm 90% sure most of my problem is my tobacco is too wet. I've never been one to plan ahead to smoke - so if it had 10 minutes to sit out and dry, that was longer than I've ever done, but obviously not enough.

    Packing a Flake?

The drying bit I’ve heard, but I’ve got no concept for what that looks like - eg, open the tin the night before and leave open, or just pull some out 10 minutes ahead of time? Assuming touch/feel of the tobacco will be most telling with time? Now off to search for drying threads

    Aged Tobacco: Quality and Value?

I’ve seen mention of rehydration- but I’m assuming dried tobacco isn’t aging in the ways desired?

    Packing a Flake?

(and others that need to be rubbed?) Title edited for caps and brevity. Remainder above. -jpm I don't have much experience with different cuts (might not even be the right wording) But - I smoked a flake yesterday - had seen a comment somewhere about just folding it and putting it into the...

    Full Body Tobacco

thanks for posting this, following as I LOVE full body cigars and feel like maybe that's one thing missing in most pipe tobacco I'm smoking

    Aged Tobacco: Quality and Value?

Coming from cigars, I loved my aged cigars. Nothing like some beautiful plume. Moving into pipes, I see lots of people selling tobacco with age, which I'm immediately drawn to. That said, I've no idea for value on this stuff. eg... 2 years seems to hit a realm where the age has made a...

    Plum Pudding!

I ordered some yesterday (not the reserve) and hope it is as exciting as it sounds. Figured if I couldn't smoke it the day of, I'd at least purchase it the day of - and of course, I popped on a few other tins. The PAD is bad.

    Sacramento Pipe Club?

Guess I can't continue discussion on the nearest pipe club I could find mentioned in here - sooooo Anyone in the Sacramento area? Saw Litup posted in the thread that just got locked. Would love to connect locally with some others. I'm in Citrus Heights.

    Your Cellar Size

I'm just starting - I don't have a goal, and don't have a track on what I've got. I hear guys ordering in pounds or 50 tins at once and I realize - I have nothing worth saying toward what I've got or even want. Following!

    Lightening your Cellar

My business tanked with covid.. stopped drinking and cut back on cigars. Things have picked up and I've gotten into pipes and have been ordering a ton. Still exploring what I like - and the cellar is already filling up way faster than I'd like my wife to know. That said - my assumption is that...
