    Better Fresh than Aged

Taking it as given that "good/better" is subjective and therefore aging doesn't make everything universally "better" just "different," which blends do you prefer fresh out of the tin upon purchase vs. aged. I'm not talking about blends that go over the hill due to fading latakia, etc. but which...

    Where'd the Rectangle Tins Go?

I searched for this topic, but didn't find anything. I apologize if this is a repeat. Where did the square/rectangle tins go? I noticed that Peterson Irish Flake, Dunhill Flake, etc are now in round tins. I quite like the square ones, so I was wondering if anyone heard as to why the change...

    The Dark Star is Calling

So I've got this tin of Dark Star I've been delaying opening, but now it's just staring at me and it's begging to be smoked. I've seen all manner of voodoo suggested to get the best or at least most manageable smoke out of it, but what is everyone's process here, I'm wondering? Cube cut and...

    VintagePipes Custom Cob!

So I happened upon this Etsy shop yesterday, and messaged the proprieter Shae with interest in a custom dark-stained Mark Twain with a shell-casing band and a saddle bit. Less than 24 hours later, this absolutely sick cob is already in the mail. Unreal!

    I'm Never Moving Again

I thought unpacking clothes was bad. Time to reorganize, yet again!

    Etsy Shop

Does anyone have experience shopping on Etsy for estate pipes? I've only ever purchased one Lorenzo from a seller (Chambersburg Pipes), but was wondering if anyone has other sellers they trust?

    Bellyaching About Retailers

I sit here reading the forums this morning, as I often do instead of selling insurance, and am just gobsmacked by the amount of bellyaching that goes on about retailers. I just don't get it. If a retailer upsets you and doesn't provide the service you expect, move on. If you don't give them a...

    Where Has the Time Gone?!

HI! I can't believe it's near the end of June already! After a very short-notice and improvised move from the Wild West of Reno, NV to the tall trees of the Pacific Northwest, I'm back in the game! I finally was able to dig all my plastic totes of pipes and tobaccos out of the downstairs...

    1980's Mac Baren Mixture - A Quandary

So I have about 6oz of early 1980's production Mac Baren's Mixture in a big Ball Jar. I am understanding that once opened, older tobaccos like this deteriorate quickly, so smoking quickly is advised. Problem is - it will take me a long time to smoke 6oz of a single mixture. Would I have any...

2015 Golden Days of Yore - 100% Pyore

Just wanted to make a semi-formal and dedicated shout out to Jeremy Reeves and his work on this blend. I don't know what it was like brand new and fresh a year ago, but I cracked it at Thanksgiving and have dabbled in it since. I can say that boy AND howdy, I do enjoy it. Jeremy has the gift...

    Smokey Joe's - Fife - Meet-up?

Moving this from a different thread. Anyone available for a meet-up this evening (Friday) or Saturday evening (11/25 or 26) at Smokey Joe's? SPC members? Anyone in the SeaTac area? I'm only on town until Sunday afternoon and was hoping to meet anyone I could whilst here. Let me know!

    Tacoma, WA Tobacconists?

Anyone know of a tobacconist around Tacoma that has a lounge? Anyone around Tacoma want to meet up for a smoke if so? I know there is a Tinder Box here, but not sure if you can smoke inside.

    A Very Deathmetal Saturday

What's more metal than buying my first tin of Royal Yacht? Buying my first tin of Royal Yacht and a fukkin' snake!

Anyone have a special tin they plan on opening on the day? I know some folks do that.

Mammoth Cave Twist - Where to Buy

Does anyone have a recommendation on a place I could call that carries this twist that might ship it to me? I'm interested in getting ahold of it, but it's not carried here in Nevada, at least not that I've seen.

    Red Wine And...?

Had a hankering for a glass of red, so I picked some up. Also have time for a bowl. Who smokes with wine, and what do you choose? Any particular blends or styles of blends that go with red?

West Coast Pipe Show - READ If You're Going

Hi All, As a way to identify forum members, my wife has offered to make up some pins with "PM (for pipesmagazine!)" stitched on them that we can display. Might be a good way to break the ice so we can introduce ourselves to each other. These would just be small 1" round white pins with black...

Mixture 79 and a Root Beer

I've been trying to put my finger on Mixture 79, and have decided that, although it's not a perfect match, hard root beer (the alcoholic kind) pairs really well with 79. 79 to me in the tub smells more like Dr. Pepper, but a root beer with a kick drunk with this blend is delightful.

If They Sold By Volume Instead of Weight

Got in a couple polar-opposite tobaccos today and was just amazed at the difference between what 4oz. of one looks like vs. another. I can fit 4oz. of Sutliff goo in a pint jar, but Bayou Morning takes up every bit of a quart.
