    Best GLP Virginia blend?

    What is the best GLP VA blend? I am really loving PS Luxury Twist and want to explore more VA, esp in flakes. Also might like some Orientals in the blend, or even a touch a Burley, but prefer something light on Perique, not too spicy. No latakia, got way too much of that!

    I think this would be great for pretty much any good English blend. Honestly the PS NDC is fabulous on it's own, a great everyday smoke. Try an ounce, it's terrific.

    I often cut stronger blends with PS Natural Dutch Cavendish, which is a delicious, well-balanced, medium smoke. It's sort of like dropping an ice cube in a glass of neat whiskey, it opens it up, allowing you to taste more flavors than you would at full strength. I recently did this with Nightcap...

    Rusticated,Blasted,Smooth Peterson

    I love my rusticated System Standard 313 and XL315. My 05 is the smooth Dublin Filter model and, as some have noted, it can get quite hot around the waistline. That being said, it is a dynamite little pipe for flakes.

    Optimum is a very nice aromatic, not goopy, with a delicious berry note that you get more in the aroma than the taste. I have been lightly spiking this with some GH Dark Flake for a little extra pop. It's very tasty.

    This is really the key for me. Dry it out and don't try to stuff the bowl, just plop a little haystack in there. Last night I dried some baccy out around 42% RH for several hours before smoking and it was perfect. Easy little sips made big clouds. Dryer and looser is the way to go.

    Totally agree. I had some cobbs and misc estates but things really started popping for me when I bought my Peterson 303. It really taught me how to smoke a pipe. Now I have four Petes. :-)

    Check out Peterson Pipe Notes for their All Purpose Bowl Coating. It's just activated charcoal and gum arabic. I've bought two new Petersons in the last two months and, with this bowl coating, they have smoked sweet right out of the gate.

    Yep, I add a rubber bit and they clench quite nicely. I love the P-Lip.

    I love my three Peterson System pipes with the army mounts. So easy to pop off the stem and run a pipe cleaner down if I get a little clog, as sometimes happens near the end of a bowl. I keep Q-tips handle for swabbing out the system well.
