    Secret Santa 2011

A simple trick for you all to make the search function work. Add tags in the appropriate box when creating a new thread, or add they to already created threads you want to revisit that lack said descriptors.

There goes my favorite pipe.... :)

That's exactly wherey grandfather burned through his favourite Downhill in the 60's. Repaired with a small screw, and smoked for another decade.

Found a solution for matches vs. lighter debate. BeeLasso.

Similar to Beeline, although perhaps easier to deal with being on the Continent, rather than Hawaii... Personally, while I did notice a positive change in flavour when compared to my Zippo, Bic, or even wooden matches, I found it frustrating to have to light something to light something to light...

    Stem replacement

If you want to go the cheap route, you can buy replacement stems from 4noggins (scroll down). For a bit more cash, you can get yourself a fancy vulcanite or lucite stem from Walker Briar Works. Conversely, if you really have your heart set on playing around and fabbing your own stem, you can...

    weeping stem

It also couldn't hurt to throw a little beeswax on that mortise and tenon. I've got a Chacom that smokes like a dream, but if I don't keep a thin layer of wax on the tenon, it "sweats" goo...even with a week rest between smokes.

    Burnout help!!

Yes, this would be my first step...I am assuming you are refering to the Blatter and Blatter you picked up at their shop last week (or perhaps a couple weeks back - the days all kind of run together at this time of year...)? If so, ouch! I feel your pain, my friend...

    Recommended Baccy Jar Capacities ....

Aussie; to answer your question without a bunch of diatribe on conversions...I buy 250ml Mason Jars for 50g of tobacco, 500ml Mason Jars for 100g. You should be able to make do with the 380ml you have available, but as people have stated, are they wide mouth? These make life so much easier.

    Holiday changes in smoking habits?

I tend to smoke more during the holiday season, as I find myself spending less time at work. I look at my trips to the patio (or, if the event is at my house, down to my garage) as a respite; as the only smoker left in my family, it is a great way to escape for a few minutes of peace. :P

5 LBS of Flour, 2 Kids, early snow storm, gotta love em

I find myself almost hoping it is real; I refuse to accept that people really think that five minutes of meme fame is worth the months of trying to get flour out of the area rug, upholstery, electronics, etc. Is it odd that this clip triggers memories of Al Pacino in Scarface for me?

Awesome! Thanks for all the great tips; looks like this is going to be a fun trip after all! :D

Say Hello to The Briar Pipe

And the peasants rejoice (another etailer who ships internationally; and at a decent rate to boot)! Welcome!

Help me Plan an Itinerary for a Road Trip (Vancouver to San Diego)

My grandmother-in-law has decided that at the ripe age of 92, she is ready to move back to Vancouver from Escondito, California (basically San Diego). I have agreed to take a couple of weeks off to fly down with my wife to help her pack, then drive the truck full of her belongings back to Canada...

    Your absolute worst all-time smoke

True; I did smoke most of said French Vanilla blend cut 1:3 with Amphora Original Blend (brown)...while not the greatest thing I've ever smoked, it was smokable.

    Your absolute worst all-time smoke

Hands down, Schefield and Son's (a franchise tobacconist in Canada) French Vanilla; a black Cav. that is so soaked with PG that I am pretty sure it could be wrung out.

    Visit to Doctor

Depending on where you live, it still is the norm. I was blown away my first trip to France; a 350ml bottle of water, juice or pop ran around $6 CAD, while a 750ml bottle of good wine ran less than $3.
