    DYI pipe repair

Do any of you do your own pipe repairs? I usually don't, but recently I purchased a nice smallish Peterson pipe pouch from Boswell's pipe shop, that has a storage space underneath the tobacco pouch for two small pipes, just to have handy when I want to go somewhere. I chose two of my smaller...

    OTC tobacco?

That's how I found two of my favorites; Middleton's Cherry blend and their Walnut blend. Now that Kevin has enlightened me about the Co. that makes those two belnds, I don't know if I will be buying anymore. Damn shame.

American Made Pipes of High Quality

Doggone it Kevin! There you go again. You just HAD to get me to look at more pipes. The temptation is almost too great to bear. But thanks. I wasn't aware of a couple of these makers. If it wasn't that Christmas has just passed, and I am short of funds at present, I would have ordered one from...

How do I post a negative review of tobbaco without getting in trouble?

I think Middleton's Cherry Blend is a great one. It's one of my favorites. For years I would have nothing to do with Cherry blends from anyone. Then one day I just wanted to smoke some. Odd I thought, but I gave several a try. I liked Middleton's because it wasn't too overboard. It still tasted...

January 2011 - What are you smoking?

A nice Talamona stacked billiard (sort of). I'm sorry to say that Cesare Talamona no longer makes pipes. That's a shame, because he made some really great ones. I would love to pick some more up, and I've seen some estates for sale, but I just can't justify more pipes at this time. All the...

    Butera Pipes

I don't believe Mike would have put out a pipe unless it was his best. That's one reason why his pipes were in such demand. He was a perfectionist. Just because it's rusticated, and not smooth, doesn't mean it was necessarily of a lower grade. He did have grades of pipes, but all of them were...

    New GBD

Very nice unclearthur. I love the shape, and I love older GDB's. They have some truly classic shapes.

When I get to the bottom...

Sorry. I just re-read my post. I forgot to mention that when I leave the tobacco in the bowl after a smoke to allow the moisture and tars to soak in, I DO clean them out before filling the bowl with tobacco again for my next smoke. Just a clarification. Good luck.

When I get to the bottom...

Ulsterpaddy, there are a lot of different ways to start a good cake in the bottom of the bowl. You'll hear about wetting your finger with water and rubbing the inside of the bowl before putting the tobacco in, or doing the same thing with honey or whiskey, or the old third of a bowl then half...

    Butera Pipes

I suppose that might be because Butera's pipes have been been absent for longer than this forum has been in existance. Just a thought. And there are really not that many out there for sale, so you just don't hear about them much anymore. Those that have them, tend to hold onto them, for...

    Cavicchi Pipes

Thanks all. And you call ME lucky, Lawrence? With four Cavicchi's, you must be one lucky devil yourself. lol. Mine is a 2C, but it looks like a higher grade, with all the straight grain. I have been smoking it all evening. Don't want to put it down yet.

    Cavicchi Pipes

Christmas wasn't quite over at my house. That is, until the UPS van pulled up outside earlier today. I had been reading good things about Cavicchi pipes, and the maker, Caludio Cavvichi. His pipes looked good, and I was impressed by what he had to say about the materials he uses, his curing...

    Savinelli, post your pics.

I really like Savinelli Pipes. At my first pipe show, I met an older fellow who saw that I was overwhelmed by all the pipes being displayed. I kept looking at an estate Savanelli and he told me that " you can never go wrong with a Savanelli". I bought the pipe, and he was so very right. All...

How much is a pipe really worth?

How much do you usually spend on a new pipe? How much is too much for you? Browsing through several pipe sale sites, I have come upon those mighty Dane pipes more than enough times, with their "more than enough" prices. Sure, they are very nice pipes, and very well made, but they are just...

    Calabash Questions

I bought a Pioneer with a block meerschaum bowl back in the early 90's, and it only cost me $45.00 if I remember correctly. I always used it to tame strong, but tasty blends. It did a wonderful job at that. I wanted to smoke some 1792 Flake a couple weeks ago, but couldn't find the thing. I...

    Favorite Shape

Usually I prefer the 1/4 bent Bulldog shape, but I have to say that after handling this Caminetto, I think this is my new prefered shape. I don't know what it's called though. It appears to be a 1/4 bent billiard, but it's a setter. The shank is square and the bottom is slightly upswept. The...

    Show Us Your Christmas Gift!

Well, I picked up a couple estate Charatans, and an old, but unsmoked GBD Pedegree, along with some other odds and ends. Yes, Santa was really nice to me this year. Charatan Charatan GBD

    Christmas pipes

Happy Christmas (Eve) everyone. Just curious if anyone else will be smoking a Christmas pipe today and tomorrow. I have a few around here, and located a couple this morning. One is an American Smoking Pipe Christmas 1994, and the other is an Ascorti Special Edition Christmas 1995. I chose the...

anyone know about Precision Pipe repair sitrep?

Thanks Bob. Yes, it's been a while since I have posted anything. I moved to a different state during the summer, and am still trying to get caught up with everything. I will give him a call later. Thanks again.
