    Favorite Pipe Smoking Musician

I do not know if she still does, but in the 70s the Boston Symphony cellist Ms Cameron Sawzin smoked a pipe and won an Ehrlich's Pipe Shop smoking contest.

What are you Smoking? March 2012

Today, as is mist days in my world, is a McClelland Anniversary day. So far I've had bowls in an E Andrew sandblast bent Rhidesian, a ling stemmed brandy from Enrico Marola of Italy, and a Charatan Selected FH Canadian. And more will follow

Heavy Metals in Cigarette Smoke - Pipe smoke???

The 1964 Surgeon General's Report, Smoking and Health, has a 20 page chapter describing the chemistry of smoke. Once you strip the additive compounds out of cigarette smoke (and for those who smoke aromatics, factor in the additive compounds for your particular blend), you're at the 100%...

    Xikar Scribe lighter

I have one. It replaces a whole series of Colibri Pipette and Pipette II lighters (the stick and the larger reservoir version). Colibri quality has gone way down since my first lighters in the early 1980s. I have not had a problem, but here's their warranty page: http://www.xikar.com/warranty/...

How far down do you smoke?

Depends on how hard it is to keep it lit in that last 1/4 bowl. Sometimes, I hit the sweet spot and smoke all the way to white ash at the bottom. Sometimes, I'm best off removing the last 1/4 bowl and calling it the filter of my smoke.

    An Adult in the Discussion...

How many pedantic rants have we heard about smoking, let alone pipe smoking in the past 20 years? I think we've all heard them. I found this on google news today. It's. Not. Bad! It's actually, to my opinion, reasonably mature about our hobby/passion. It's written by a...

Pipes with names? Do you name yours?

I describe a pipe I'm talking about by brand, line, and shape... Example: Charatan's Make Executive 1/4 bent Dublin Naming pipes, IMNSHO opinion, is what DRUGGIES do.

    New to the pipe scene

The bowl shape is an interpretation of a Dublin, being brought out to almost a pot shape. In other words, it's a freehand. Here's a super resource on pipe shapes: http://pipedia.org/index.php?title=Pipe_Shapes

Is your B&M worth the extra cost ?

One word: CERTAINLY. The day may come when FDA or the States (witness Washington) close down online sales. Short of criminalization, they can't close down brick and mortar sales.

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Hi, my name is John. I live near Kansas City, and have been part of the Greater Kansas City Pipe Club, on and off, for over a decade. I mostly smoke Charatan's Make, Executives to Supremes, but I have a fair number of Perfections as well (after all, Dunhill made A perfect pipe. Uno. Ein. One...

    Can't Smoke Angry!

I have a narrow emotional range where I find it a pleasure to have a bowl. If I'm too uptight, I'm not going to be able to get myself to the meditation a pipe and a book can give me. If I'm too relaxed, I'm so relaxed I want to sleep, and I'm off to bed, period.

    Charatan's

First post, but with Charatan's Make you need quality information. You'll need to find it in hardcopy, but Tad Gage's article in P&T is the Gold Standard on the subject. Period. Bob Hamlin of PCCA used to have it up, but it looks like he's closed his entire domain. Ivy Ryan's article, once...
