    Escudo

Thank you all for the good suggestions for this first-time into the Va/Per blends. Just ordered some coins of Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake 403....(I like the name), and some Elizabethan for possible contrast. I'll eventually try out some other recommended blends. I can't imagine what...

    Escudo

Good morning.... Fascinated with the idea of trying one of these blends...but which blend for the first time smoker? Right now I smoke a 50-50 mixture of Lane Ltd. "HGL" and McClellan-#2050 both mild, mellow.....but the above tobacco blends sound a little "stronger and fuller in...

    The Devil's Scent--What Is It?

rye.... Just couldn't let your thread go without some supporting comments. Your smoking experiences virtually mirror my decades of sad attempts at learning how to enjoy pipe-smoking, and finding some tobaccos that would not turn my stomach. Thankfully, I found this forum, and many helpful...

More Like a Nose Warmer Now

Actually, and I should have this posted sooner, admire your innovation and artistic handling of such a common material. Kudos. I think some designs work better than others, but all are very nice. My favorite: The little "horn" straight pipe at the bottom. Do you sell pipes? Frank

    Rustication and Blasting

I think in the end, it's all just a matter of opinion, all subjective, good or bad, it's just what appeals to the eye, and mostly, what's popular...the current fad, the must-have "look-du-jour".....ultimately, all just nonsense. See that 'Poop" pipe....I'd gladly take that pipe, any day, over...

    The Devil's Scent--What Is It?

Over the last few decades I was an on and off piper. One of the main reasons that turned me off to pipe smoking, and a great source for my disappointment, was the flavor changes that any tobacco goes through from the time it is first lit to about mid-bowl. The first half of the bowl is a great...

Bent Dublin With First Hand Turned Acrylic Stem

shikano53... Did all that and apparently registration was accepted. I got e-mail saying my membership will be activated, and never was. Tried to re-register, again, and a red warning said....that I exceeded the number of times, yada, yada, yada...honestly at this point, I don't even care...

Bent Dublin With First Hand Turned Acrylic Stem

Chris... Thanks for the information about heating/bending acrylic. Sounds a bit daunting, and I just may do a few practice stems before I work on the "real" stem. In any event, appreciate the time it took for the explanation. Much obliged for your interest. Pipe Maker's Forum....Have no idea...

    Pipe Affect Room Note

ahmed400 Most of your questions were asked about the quality of the pipe. The short answer is just smoke the pipe you own. Almost any briar pipe will smoke reasonably well, but of course better quality pipes might give you a better smoking experience. Corn Cob pipes are said to give great...

Bent Dublin With First Hand Turned Acrylic Stem

shikano53.... Beautiful pipe, and I like the stem color and graceful shape. Really nice hunk of smokin' wood. Just asking: I have tried to join, and contacted the administrators of The Pipemaker's Forum but no go. What's the story with this group....are they inactive, active...how do I join...

    L.A Incident

Terribly tragic. Yet another day that will live in infamy. This atrocity will have lasting ramifications, that I don't even want to contemplate. Deepest condolences and sorrowful prayers for all the victims, their friends and families. God bless and protect this great and exceptional country...

I Love Tobacco, but Hate Nicotine!

Again, thanks for all the suggestions. Your answers helped. Holy smoke! I got the Burley = high nicotine thing, all wrong.... Got schooled, today. That's a good thing. @ cosmic....thanks for the tobacco tips. But I'll skip the bay leaves. @ chasingembers....catalogs that I have just not...

I Love Tobacco, but Hate Nicotine!

Thank you all for helping me find this information, and for the helpful suggestions. I just took another look on the "Tobacco Review"s site and now have become aware that the nicotine-strength is noted in the "STRENGTH" ratings, listed above the review comments. Missed this. Thanks. As for...

I Love Tobacco, but Hate Nicotine!

Michael....thanks for that information. Having recently rekindled my interests in pipe smoking, I realize that I have a lot of catching up to do. Had no idea Tobacco Reviews had nicotine-strength noted. I guess I looked in the wrong location. Where on the TR site do I look for the...

I Love Tobacco, but Hate Nicotine!

Interesting subject, for me, anyway. So how do you know which blends have a higher nicotine level? You can't know unless you smoke them for a while, judge your reactions, and then compare them to other blends. In other words....it's a crap shoot. All arbitrary, all anecdotal...no nic content...

Do You Still Have Your First Pipe?

Bought my first pipe in 1962... It was sold to me by a guy who fixed pipes while you waited, on Maiden Lane, lower-Manhattan (Wall St. area). This pipe guy had a little, wooden shanty set up next to a parking lot. The shanty was just large enough to hold the guy and a few tools, buffing...

    Bakelite Pipe Stems

Heat gun! So....that's how they bend it. Bet the guys who bend Bakelite stems must say a few Hail Marys when they are about to change the shape of a hand-cut bit......this stuff snaps like uncooked spaghetti when flexed just a hair too much. Also wonder if it needs to be stress-relieved...
