Stokkebye No. 84 Turkish Export vs Newminster 84

I believe that is the now discontinued Stokkebye Turkish 84 in question. It used to be shag cut, then no longer to avoid the cigarette regulations. Maybe they had a lot of it stockpiled or something? Or further cutting it on the premises? Or priced so ridiculously that they're the last holdout?

Stokkebye No. 84 Turkish Export vs Newminster 84

thanks. on the wild chance, has anyone tried to home blend something similar? I'd like something even more Turkish forward. Izmir and/or Samsun with sweet virginia?

Stokkebye No. 84 Turkish Export vs Newminster 84

is there anything available on the market that will substitute for Stokkebye No. 84 Turkish Export?

    Daughters and Ryan

Yeah, that tin has darkened considerably from age. New, it was a very light golden color. Blonde is probably the best way to describe it, and yeah, it almost looked fake, or bleached. I want to be clear. I'm not knocking Three Sails. I smoke it. I've just never found it all that similar to...

    Daughters and Ryan

I used to smoke a lot of Three Castles. Three Sails isn't even close. It doesn't even look similar. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate Three Sails just fine, but Three Castles was a top shelf, premium, golden sweet virginia.

Anybody Else Experiencing this problem trying to go to tobacco reviews .com?

Firefox has a plugin VPN. Free and easy to install. I'm sure other browsers do as well. Heck, even free antivirus software these days has a VPN integrated into it. Avast. The browser ones are easy to turn on/off.

Pipe Tobacco is no Good Anymore/Better Than Before

In my opinion, to streamline a long and worthless diatribe, English blends aren't as good as yesteryear because of the loss of Syrian latakia (by the way, the Latakia Governorate has been in the news lately), but Virginias have been every bit as good as they have been in the past. That is...

    Let's Discuss this Forum

I haven't noticed anything particularly alarming in this forum, but in a society now driven by hate/negativity/cynicism/nihilism, it's not at all surprising that some would take issue. Taking issue because of the aforementioned perspective (to be the contrarian), or take issue with actual other...

    Peterson Carved Meerschaum

It's amazing how the market has changed on these things. I used to see them used in every shop for $20-25. John's in Champaign, IL had maybe more than a dozen of them in their mass of used pipes. Granted, they had A LOT of used pipes in the back room, but you couldn't help but notice how...

Does Anyone Else Have Bad Smokes?

I very, very, very rarely have "bad" smokes. Maybe every few years? But also, only once or twice a year do I have sublime smokes. Those smokes that remind you that there's nothing like pipe smoking. 99.999999% of my smokes are in that 7 to 8 out of 10 grade.

    Thoughts on The Chair?

There are some nice Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair knockoffs. They're still pricey, but both form and function.

    Storing Tobacco In Zip Locks

You don't want to have to re-hydrate tobacco if you can avoid it. First, it is a pain to get just right, but more importantly, it lessens the flavor each time you have to do it. I do it, just like I suspect we all do it. It's just part of the deal, but if I can avoid it, I also do that too. Does...

Tobacco pouches/ leather bags why do they exist?

One of the first things I bought after a couple nice pipes was a Comoy Piccary pouch. Still the nicest piece of leather I've ever had in my hands. Just phenomenally soft and pecked with a stunning texture and marking. I think I used it 2 or 3 times? I have no idea why I thought I needed one...

    Why Buy Tins?

Way to be. I catch myself doing it with McClelland #2015, but I get caught in the gymnastics of it all, as I really don't enjoy aged tobacco as much as I do tobacco right out of the store jar or shipping box. So I'm smoking this aged #2015 and thinking, "I really don't like this as much as my...

    Why Buy Tins?

Unfortunately, this has become the bane of every hobby now. I see it everywhere these days. People buying things, but are afraid to touch them and use them because it hurts resale value. I don't have an answer, and I try not to judge harshly. It's just sad to me, as in a bummer. Kids who...

    Food Affecting Tobacco?

I would assume it is somewhat learned behavior/response/developed taste. I really don't know how our flavor palate works and changes over time. I hated all vegetables other than potatoes when I was a kid, and now I can eat just about any of them with genuine enthusiasm. Never liked fish of...

    Food Affecting Tobacco?

I avoid anything spicy, as in capsaicin spicy. For instance, I love Asian cuisine, but I've found it to be a terrible compliment to pipe smoking. Italian cuisine is on the other side of things and a great compliment to smoking (if the recipe doesn't involve red pepper flakes...because of my...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

There are a lot of new people in pipes. They lack the history and context of pipe values. And then there is China (and this is not an anti-China stance). It only takes a small number of times, or a short period, of exorbitant pricing to affect the market. If I was more of a jerk, I'd give ebay...

Luxury Estates or Excellent New Pipes?

More and more people trying to turn it into secondary income, jacking up the market price more and more. They negatively affect the market because they don't run auctions and let the entire market set prices. They use Buy It Now and artificially mess with the market. It wouldn't matter if it...

    The Value of Handling Tobacco?

To this day, the greatest medical advancement in history is handwashing and disinfecting before medical procedures. It's cool that you have that family history, but exception isn't any way to go at something. It isn't just made up that life expectancy was 40-50 years old for a very, very long...
