Not to derail the Christmas thread shenanigans....

It’s supposed to be a sipped and savored, lighter blend. Like a latte. If you’re looking for stronger flavors, go with 965 or Nightcap.

Got My New Peterson Christmas Pipe Today!

They offered both. I’ve got an 05, which is never offered in any spigots, and an XL11 (which is very similar but a few mms larger) which was the spigot offering.

Got My New Peterson Christmas Pipe Today!

Yep; been that way since at least 2011. (* I bought five Xmas pipes that year, all had bubbling/peeling finish). My 2014 St Pat’s, My 2015 Classic, My 2017 St Pat’s, My 2021 Sherlock Xmas. My 2011’s didn’t start bubbling til three or four years later. But the Pete customer service hooked me...

Got My New Peterson Christmas Pipe Today!

I’ve given up on their smooth finishes. (Too many have seen peeling). I stick with their blast or rusticated. I love that they offered several different shapes this year. XL11 was a pleasant surprise. I got the 05 and the XL11.

    Who Uses Matches?

🤔I get 3 boxes at the local pharmacy for $6. If I knew that’s what folks on eBay were paying, I’d load up and make off like a bandit. (😮$36 for three boxes?????)

    Who Uses Matches?

100% matches! There are pros and cons. Biggest con being Wind (can be a mother to light on even a slightly windy day). But there’s the convenience of a lower flame light, and more manageable/control (at least for me) To avoid flare-up; I only keep the match down near the bowl on the inhale, and...

Cellaring: How Much is Too Much?

If you’re still buying tobacco; then you don’t have enough.

Notice for out of production blends

@cosmicfolklore Small correction/clarification: McC didn’t go out of business; (which implies a closure for financial reasons) but merely closed up shop.

Pipe Smoking seems Cheaper than Cigars (?)

Hahaha..... this may be true for folks in the States; but check out prices in Canada. Or better yet, Australia.... they’ll disagree on that.

    Taming my nicotine addiction

In theory the switch works; but in practice it hardly ever does. You must remember that the average cigarette contains 13-15 milligrams of tobacco; the average bowl in a pipe 3 grams. (So about 230 cigarettes worth of tobacco in the average pipe bowl) The biggest hurdle is the tobacco...

    Beginner Perspective of Peterson's Nightcap

I’m assuming you meant EMP. And they are “kissing cousins”. They were developed as a “morning”/midday smoke and an after dinner smoke. The only difference is the addition of Perique to the Nightcap. And I’m part of the crowd that’s come to dislike Perique in my Tobacco. Especially Acadian...

    Pipes, Pups and Pets

Praying Mantises are great for taking out pet pests; like ticks! This year is especially bad with ticks. *I also plant marigolds and chrysanthemum in my yard to rid it of ticks. They produce limonene which is a repellent, as well as toxic to ticks.

    Best of the Best OCBs…Go!

Kentucky Club ? Middleton Cherry ? Walnut ? Sugar Barrel ? Grew up with these blends. Would walk into the local pharmacy and select a tub. Kentucky Club was my favorite; but the others were darn good. The match blends taste nothing like the OGs. ** I could also go into Woolworths and grab a...

A Question For You Ebay Sellers...

You should see the scams in trading cards. Well known Canadian seller was forging Upper Deck the Cup hockey cards. The Cup are the ultra high end cards. A tin of 5 cards runs you around $350. Some cards fetch tens of thousands. This particular seller was replacing full one color Jersey swatches...

A Question For You Ebay Sellers...

Yet more shill bidding. This pipes has “sold” 4 times by the same seller. These people don’t even try to hide their shenanigans. At least post it for sale under a different seller name/account. Heck; take new photos...

    Your Go-To Virginia

I prefer my tobacco to be free of someone (Jeremy Reeves??) beard hair. (At least I hope it was heard hair)??

    Your Go-To Virginia

HH Pure Virginia; Peterson 3Ps, Aylesbury Sir John’s Flake, Pease Union Square. 2019 Cringle Flake.

Sutliff Tobacco Co. Dulce de Leche D58

@drrock I enjoy MD. But I prefer most blends on the wetter side. Especially aros, as it generates more concentrated flavors.

    Please Help Identify a Flavor

I don’t get “nutty” from black Cavendish. Is the flavor more “grilled corn”??? If so, it’s burley. Most American Aromatics use burley as a base, most Cavendish in the States is also processed using Burley; vs European blends that use Virginia to make their Cavendish.
