    Nine Dunhill Four Square Panels

The larger pipes are #6, the smaller #4. The tobacco can with the warning is from the UK. I like panels because I can use them when I am drawing and put them down on the table without them falling over.

    Red Tails

I just saw an excellent and moving WWII film, "Red Tails". Cuba Gooding was smoking a Peterson system pipe in most of his scenes. Thought you might be interested.

Does anyone know? I miss his reviews & comments. Hope all is well with him.

    Five of the Best Savinellis

These are Savinelli Giubileo D'Oro pipes. According to the Sav site they are the best pipes they make. The series was discontinued then revived as New Giubileo D'Oro. I couldn't find any actual pipes of this series on the Savinelli Italian site, or on the US importer's, smokingpipes.com. I got...

    I Must Quit Smoking

Well, I knew this might happen. Having just completed a 12 year cellar and an amazing array of pipes, I have been advised today that I must quit all smoking immediately. That probably will mean about a pipe every few weeks. I have already gotten down to one drink a week, now even that small joy...

    Troost Trial

I got a free sample pouch of Lane's Troost, a cavendish. It was out of curiosity, I didn't expect much. In a briar, I was right, not very good. Then I tried it in a MacArthur cob. It was a wonderful smoke.

    Cellar

Trying to stay ahead of the tax man ("If you drive they'll tax the street, if you walk they'll tax your feet.")I have been putting away cans of tobacco. I had an inventory done today. The total of closed tins is 897. They are stashed a little here, a little there, so I couldn't get any pictures.

    3 Part Smoke

I tried a new combination last night and must say I got lucky. It was one of the best smokes I have had. The bottom 1/3 of the bowl was filled with Frog Cellar, the middle 1/3 with Nightcap, the top with Old Dark Fired. This was smoked in a Dunhill Bruyere Churchwarden.

    Change in Dunhills

Something besides the label changed in the manufacture of Dunhills during 2012. The coating from inside the bowl and a little stain is now to be found in the draft hole near the bowl. This never used to happen. It probably is the result of a shortcut they have taken. In case Dunhill is...

Watch Out for the Box , Savinelli Autographs

I finally bought the Savinelli Cutter I have wanted. It came in a large box with no internal packing material. I extracted the box from some bubble wrap and it popped open, dropping the pipe on the table, and scratching it. The corners of the box opened at an odd angle, all by themselves...

    Photos, Radice Chubby Aero Blimp

Notice the hollowed out shank and the cup at the pipe end of the stem. The cup catches moisture and the pipe smokes very well. You have to cool it before cleaning, and clean after every smoke.

    Two Tobaccos New to Me

One of them, Frog Morton is probably familiar to most of you. I have never tried it because I don't like the taste of McClellend's Cyprian Latakia. The taste was here, but somehow changed, by casing or just blending. Very nice indeed! Glad I got a big can. Will be smoking a lot of it. The other...

    New Radice and Some Questions

I just received a wonderful Radice Chubby from Italy. Half filled it with some Frog, also new here, and am smoking it. This is the funniest pipe I have seen. The shape makes me laugh. Is that a common reaction? It is 4 1/4" long & 2"high. It looks like it belongs in a Botero painting. There was...

    New Savinellis

This is the Savinelli that members here advised me to get. It is a 3* Giubileo D'Oro.The slightly darker pipe (smoked more) is a 2*.

    Interesting Metal Pipe From Tsuge

This pipe is rather different from anything I have seen. It is at www.alpascia.com/detail.asp?/x=&detail=24024.0 It probably won't be there for long at $115. Might have a metallic taste. What do you think about it?

    Savinelli Giubileo D'oro

The Savinelli that I decided to get in another thread has arrived. I am smoking it, half a smoke to be precise. It is excellent for a first smoke of a pipe with an uncoated bowl. No regrets, the taste of the stain is OK. If the empty chamber where the filter was does not become a cleaning...
