Digging the HH Old Dark Fired
Harris.... I ordered more yesterday, but opened a tin and laid out the flakes to dry over night on some newspaper. Rubbed them out this morning and loaded an old Dunhill. Just lovely! I'm thinking I didn't order enough yesterday, but will add to next TAD. Thanks!- topd

I would guess your meerschaum is close to 100 years old. Good deal! The stem appears to be amber to me, but you can't tell in photo's. You'll never find the maker though.... Just enjoy it! (Let us hear how and where you got it!) -

Identifying Meerschaum
One thing you have to keep in mind about meerschaum is the name on the pipe, if it has one, has nothing to do with it's "manufactured" quality. Meerschaum isn't 'made' by the distributor. The Little Shop on the Square...
While visiting Texas last month I came across a small B&M in San Marcos. 'Hill Country Humidor' is right on the square down town. A very 'down home' place to visit with people smoking pipes and cigars, sitting on benches and sofa's just as you walk in the door. You could tell it had been there...- topd

About the only thing I do is use pipe cleaners and lightly scrape the bowl innards when a cake starts to form.- topd

Tobacco Tins....Sealed.....or NOT???
I prefer my tins sealed and have never received an open one. I'm not saying it can't happen, I've just been lucky. But, we aren't concerned with botulism or some other bacteria being inside like we would if it was canned food. Your tobacco wont age and may dry, but it's nothing that can't be...- topd
