    Please Pass This On

None of the previous cups had anything to do with the real meaning of Christmas. Maybe I need to start a business that searches for things for people to be offended by.

    Cobs, cake, and coloring

A new and a well smoked 5th Avenue. The old one has a very light layer of cake. There are 3 factors in play with cob coloring; 1) Oil and tar released from burning tobacco. 2) In my case my grubby hands when handling it and 3) Heat. Think how a piece of bread changes color when toasted.

Ok, I bought a block of Carnauba... it's super Hard

Definitely need some sort of power buffer set up, even if it is just a drill clamped to the porch railing and a zip tie for speed control.

How do YOU carry your pipe, tobacco and gear?

Pockets. They are manlier than a "man bag". Like that is even a thing.

    What shape are these?

I'll say freehand as they do not resemble any shape I am familiar with.

    Coach me up

Or just smoke it. After all, it is a pipe first and foremost. I have 4 Altinoks and one IMP. I have always handled them by the bowl with no gloves. They are grubby, dinged, scratched and are coloring just fine. I have a few meers because a good meer will smoke as good as a cob.

    Corn Cobs for Newbies

You will find that the weak point of many Missouri Meerschaum cobs is the cheap plastic stems which get chewed through rather quickly. But the remedy can be cheap or spendy. You can buy cheap replacement bits from MM or many tobacco retailers. Or go upscale with ForeverStems. The bowl with...

How do You Break Apart Kake

With CBK, I just crumble a bunch between thumb and first two fingers. Going forward I am usually able to codger scoop and that helps to crumble the next layer down. This helps to keep the fine powdery stuff mixed in as you go, rather than have it all sift to the bottom of the tin.

How and Why to Smoke Nose Warmers?

Just smoke them slow and easy. The heat of the smoke entering your mouth is not significantly different than that from a full length pipe. When smoking a full length pipe, feel the stem and shank. Unless you are puffing like a freight train, you should not feel any increase in temperature. This...

    novice

If for some unknown reason the thought of smoking a corncob pipe does not work for you, look into the Kaywoodie Saxon line of briars. Under $25.00 and smoke as well as many higher priced pipes. Another thing to keep in mind. You do not have to move on. Many, many folks start with Cobs and old...

    Talk to me about Meerschaum.

I have 4 Altinoks and 1 IMP that are all fine smokers. They use a Delrin push tenon and a 4mm draft, about 5/32". I too like smooth finish, classic shapes like billiards and prince like shapes. In the past I have tried bargain meers in the $45.00 - $80.00 price range and they all ended up in the...

    B&M stopped selling meerschaum cobs?

If you smoke a cob, you will smoke a little glue, that is how the factory attaches the shank. IMO, the beauty of cobs is how ugly they eventually look. The majority of my cobs are 4 - 5 years old. Because they are well seasoned, I have a hard to impossible time deciding whether my meers or briars...

Bacon To Be Classified As Dangerous As Cigarettes By World Health Organization

I am 66 years old.I have survived one heart attack and had an A Fib incident which sent everybody on the floor into a Code Blue tizzy and resulted in me now having a ICD in my chest. I take half a dozen meds every morning. And I am fixing to grill me up a bacon cheeseburger for supper. But it is...

Would you pay full retail for a pipe if it was not exact to what you want?

I don't understand your question. Are you saying the seller should discount it because you would choose to have it restemmed? If that is what you are saying, no you should not expect a discount.

    Quick Questions

Just don't go poking and digging below the level of the shank. In time the ash and dottle will turn to solid cake to form a durable bottom to the chamber. Also there is some danger of poking a hole in the bottom. I basically treatmy cobs like I treat my briars and meers.
