A Christmas Story By Charles Mundungus

Thanks for the link MLC. One more copy has now been downloaded, and hopefully preserved

Plug Question that probably has an obvious answer

Saw this on ebay and was wondering if it would get the job done. Probably not as easy as using the Yankee Slicer http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/rzgAAOSwEgVWS3ep/s-l500.jpg Hope this leads to the image

What Are Two Potential Blends to Try in 2016?

old tin of Amphora Mild Cavendish

Yeah test it by squeezing a pinch of it with thumb and finger. If it sticks together after you release it it's a little too moist, for me at least. If it does stick together some it's ok you can jar it and then maybe air out a bowl at a time for a few minutes. You just don't want it too moist...

    Bothy Flake, a quick review.

Thanks for the post farmer. I received two tins about a month ago but have not cracked them. This has bumped them way up on the list to try.

    Started a Cellar

It's a good start. Looks fine to me. Just keep away from heat and light

    G&H Rope TAD

Thanks for the report lawmax. I had ordered an ounce of each of those a few months ago with several other samplings but have not gotten around to them yet. But I agree, they smell heavenly. This will speed up my decision to try them out sooner rather than later.

    Tasting Nothing But Latakia !!

+1 on the Missouri Meerschaum cobs. A great, inexpensive way to be able to rotate your pipes and use a different pipe for different types of tobacco, as you're learning the different tastes of each kind. One for Latakia blends, one or two for aromatic blends, another for Virginia blends, etc...

    They Taste the Same

In my experience it just took time for my tongue to get used to the different tastes of tobaccos. The more often you smoke the quicker this process may take. With me being only a couple of times a week smoker, it took a while. Also, the slower you smoke, (sip, don't puff) the better you will be...

    Pull the trigger.

Good choice Hakchuma. I prefer the bit on the bottom one but they both look great

Score? Gallaher's Rich Dark Honeydew Flake

Congrats. I had bid on an old sealed tin about a month ago but lost out. I was curious myself but sounds like from the responses you've struck it rich. Enjoy it someday, and let us know what you think about it

An Open Apology to Cob Smokers

+1 on the Country Gentleman. It's my go to pipe most of the time. It's larger than most of the cobs so you can get a really decent spell with it, and it's a step up in appearance. Can't go wrong with it

The November 2015 Cartoon Caption Winners are in!

I won third place earlier in the year, but for the life of me I couldn't think of any good line for this one. Those are some really good lines everybody. Congratulations!

old tin of Amphora Mild Cavendish

Wow, that's great that you found one of your dad's old tins. It may seem silly to some, but if it was mine, the emotional attachment of smoking something from the same tin that I knew my dad had smoked from would be huge. Hope the experience provides you with a sense of connection.

    The First Sip

A Dr. Grabow pipe (can't remember which one) with some Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic. Actually was pretty good although I couldn't appreciate the taste of it as much as I can now, although I prefer other burleys over SWR

First Post: Dragged Kicking and Screaming Into Bliss

Welcome aboard Jeff and enjoyed your first post. I like burley blends myself, but have not tried any of the C&D blends. I have had some of the Uhles Tobacco Shop burley blends and they are very good, and blended by them at their shop in Milwaukee since the 1930s. I plan on getting some C&D...
