    Flavors Seem Weak

Pipes are different - you can taste more by retrohaling by the way. That may help. I think for people who come from strong tobacco taste, something like Carter Hall or Key Largo are good "transition" blends. But that may be just me.

A year old Dunhill Nightcap in an Upshall P Pot (5).

    Plume vs. Mold??

Scratching would be the definitive test - mold does not come off by itself. Plume does, and leaves the tobacco intact. I'm so glad I was wrong!

    Plume vs. Mold??

It still looks like early mold to me - but would love to be wrong!

    Plume vs. Mold??

That's mold - plume is dustier. This looks clustery. Sorry!

Savinelli 320 Is It A Magic Pipe?

Mostly KS here. I only clench one or two pipes, and these are not them. If you're really on the fence on price, get a Rossi. I have a Bruyere. Same pipe, more fillings, but the stain hides them really well.

Remembering Freddie Mercury in a very special way

The New York Times reports there is now an asteroid named after Freddie Mercury. The asteroid was discovered in 1991, the year Freddie died, and the name was assigned on Mercury's 70th birthday.

    what's your favorite clencher?

Peterson System 312. Light, easy to balance, and the angle is just right to keep the smoke away from my nose. You may find a used Standard one for that price.

Never had a problem with a Peterson pipe

I have about a dozen of them and like them all. I like my Systems the most, and I'm still in awe of how well my modest standard 31 performs. I love the roomy Sherlocks (yes, even the Original, infamous for its bowl getting warmer than it should, as it hugs my beloved Westminster with passion...
