COPD and other Lung Issues
I don't have chronic lung issues, but I (and my wife) definitely notice some coughing and sleep apnea when I smoke pipes and cigars frequently (more than once or twice a week). Smoking to the Bottom of the Bowl.
I stopped worrying about it. With deeper bowl pipes I find it much more difficult to smoke down to a fine ash. The type of tobacco and moisture content also matters a lot.- PaulDM

Filter or Non-filter Pipes? Confused.
Savinelli 6mm pipes are quite versatile. You can smoke them with no filter (using the plastic adapter prevents the draw from being too open), a balsa filter, or a 6mm charcoal filter (which I happen to like the best).- PaulDM

Coffee goes with almost anything I find. If I want something cold I like coconut water - I find that it really cleanses the palate. I never drink alcohol when I smoke (pipes or cigars) - I'm extra cautious and avoid it out of concern that it increases possibility of nasty oral health problems...- PaulDM
