Going To Vietnam, Any Members From There? Or Any Tips While Visiting?

Oh, I forgot to mention this but just in case, please be careful with scams! These unfortunately do exist in Vietnam, certain areas are very... party oriented, if you catch my drift, and there's a decades old economy of catching sucker tourists in these areas. Do your research if you plan to...

How Do You Reconcile With Pipe Smoking's Health Risks?

I know it's completely self-serving and seemingly at the mercy of the cognitive biases we humans tend to have(wishful thinking, the aforementioned self-serving bias, confirmation bias, etc), but I genuinely believe that the health risks of pipe smoking are minimal, and I would even express the...

Which Tobacco Has The Best *Burning* Characteristics?

I do agree with this, having tried it. Also, am I crazy or does Old Gowrie seem create cake more quickly than other tobaccos?

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

Robert McConnell's Scottish Cake in the Savinelli 320 from diamondback. Always a joy when this one is next up on rotation. puffy

    4th Generation 1931 Flake

Ah nice, another fan. Yeah, I've been blasting through this tin myself lately. It's an uncomplicated, very tasty and well behaved smoke. See, people say honey often but I get no honey. Anise is a possibility however, I smelled the flake several times yesterday and the topping reminds me a...

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

Amphora Original in one of my worst pipes(alas) which I'm attempting to smoke into good behavior. A large pot marked "Algerian Briar - France"

Public Service Announcement Regarding Savinelli's Doblone d'Oro

If you threw it out, someone could discover it in the trash and try smoking it, and have a terrible experience. You're doing a selfless deed by carefully ensuring every awful coin turns to ash.

Interesting Take on Amphora Kentucky Blend

Where can we find this review? Tobaccoreviews.com I'm guessing?

First Impression: Cornell & Diehl's Haunted Bookshop

Beautifully written review, thanks for this. I haven't tried this very hyped tobacco yet but it's on the list.

Amphora Virginia - A Brief Review

Thank you for this review. I clicked it because I'm having a big bowl of Amphora Original now, which is quite different from the VA I'm sure but I'm impressed with this stuff for being an inexpensive, old pouch blend. I will have to try the burley and virginia pouches some day.

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

Some Elizabethan in a Kaywoodie Flame Grain from ... I think the 1930's-40's. This new Peterson tin was fairly rough around the edges when I opened it(was tinned in I think September), but after sitting around for a few months open(once rehydrated very slightly), it has really mellowed out and...

    The Bare Pipe on YouTube

Very soothing to listen to. I'll often just have a bowl or two relaxing on youtube watching his and a few other's restoration vids.

What Did You Make For Dinner?

Just some fried rice. My method is 1 or 2 day old rice so it's fairly dried out, this is what makes the best fried rice. There are some "hacks" I use to get a flavor-explosive fried rice I'd like to share. 1) Chinese pickles. You can find these on amazon on in an asian grocery, look for pickled...

Tea Drinkers - What Online Stores Do You Use?

Hopefully I didn't come off as a snob-- I drink teabags myself, sometimes you just want a teabag. There's no better tea for sweetened milk tea because it has to be ground up strong black tea, which is tea bag tea. But I'm a realist and after having tried the "Esoterica" or <insert your favorite...

Peterson's 3P Plug... Or Peterson's Perfect Plug? Peterson's Perfect 3P Plug... but yeah... that, in a cob. Extremely impressed with this tobacco. About as full bodied as VaBur's get with flavor profile from all the pressing and stoving and just the right amount of strength to my preferences...

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

Back to back bowls, this time it's another McConnell's, Scottish Cake in a tiny Kaywoodie Super Grain Lovat. I'm so glad I got the advice to get some kaywoodie estates to pad my rotation. They were barely smoked, perfect for my budget, and are some of my better smoking pipes as they're getting...

Which Tobacco Has The Best *Burning* Characteristics?

Taste and preference aside, what that you've encountered burns straight down to ash? I ask because I've encountered such a tobacco these past few days: 4th Generation 1931 Flake. It burns like a cigarette, just straight down like magic. Tastes good too, which is a plus.

    Does Nicotine Make You Sleepy?

I've felt sleepy after some Very strong tobaccos (usually stuff heavy on the dark fired Kentucky or other strong leaf), but I can't be sure if it was coincidence or if the tobacco caused it.

What are You Drinking? (January, 2020)

I don't know what it is but I keep gravitating to bourbon highballs. Ice, your inexpensive bourbon of choice(mine is Four Roses yellow), gingerale(Canada Dry seems to taste best after comparing to Schweppes and Seagram's), Lemon wedge. It's ridiculously refreshing, please give it a try.
